The Cranky Greek: September 2013
http://georgesweblog.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Always Carry Your Camera. Monday, September 30, 2013. A Pond in the Shade. Omaha - Henry Doorly Zoo. A shaft of light pierces the trees and illuminates a small spot near a pond at the zoo. This is a photo I took several years ago with an early digital camera. The difference between the bright and shaded areas is quite large. The camera did a pretty good job of recording everything given the limited capabilities of cameras from that time period. Monday, September 23, 2013. View from the Breakfast Table.

The Cranky Greek: November 2013
http://georgesweblog.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Always Carry Your Camera. Monday, November 18, 2013. Pick Up Your Toys. Hard Working Crew on a Cold, Windy Day. Every kid gets told to put away their toys when they are through playing with them. I guess it even happens in the adult world. Well, I'm sure they didn't think of it as "playing." It looked much more like hard work. I snapped this photo with my phone from the NFM parking lot while sitting comfortably in my heated car. Monday, November 11, 2013. These hopper cars are about 1" tall. Taking a qui...

The Cranky Greek: May 2013
http://georgesweblog.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Always Carry Your Camera. Tuesday, May 28, 2013. The lilacs up close. I can tell it's spring. The tornado sirens have wailed and the lilacs have bloomed.. The lens was about eight inches from the flowers when I took this photo. At that distance it's difficult to keep things in focus. The depth of field is pretty thin, even stopped down to f/10. I had to break out a monopod to steady the camera and get a sharp image.. Monday, May 20, 2013. Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Working at Home - 1974. Home Office - 1974.

Always Carry Your Camera. Tuesday, December 11, 2012. Advent Window - St. Bridgets Church. This is another of the twelve stained glass windows, each representing an event from the liturgical calendar. I thought I would post this photo since it's appropriate for the current season. This description from church documents:. Wednesday, December 05, 2012. I was in the doctor's office a while back and noticed these two magazines on an end table. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Cranky Greek: Sidetracked
http://georgesweblog.blogspot.com/2013/11/sidetracked.html
Always Carry Your Camera. Monday, November 11, 2013. These hopper cars are about 1" tall. While I was in the hobby shop buying a circle of track to go around the Christmas tree I spotted these little N-scale coal hopper cars. So why did I use the phone? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Cranky Greek: The Christmas Train
http://georgesweblog.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-christmas-train.html
Always Carry Your Camera. Monday, October 28, 2013. A small switch engine with the Christmas Train in tow. Notice how the brightness changes as the white car goes by. That is the iPhone auto-exposure system reacting to the sudden change. The shakes have nothing to do with the phone. That was me trying to hold things steady without a mini-tripod. The Cranky Greek: April 2013
http://georgesweblog.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Always Carry Your Camera. Tuesday, April 30, 2013. September Rain - 1969. It was a rainy day in September of 1969. The large picture window in my parent's living room provided a great view of the park across the street. When I noticed this woman in red walking into the park, I thought it might make a decent photo. The digitized version of the slide has been on my disk drive for a few years. The red coat and umbrella always grab my attention as I scroll past the older photos in my library. Saturda...A few...
