A Journey of Five Million Steps
Georgia to Maine: August 2006
http://georgiatomaine.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
A Journey of Five Million Steps. Saturday, August 19, 2006. You poop on the side of the trail. Not in the middle. I can hear you laughing. Isn't that great! I wish I remembered the rules of Haiku Poetry, because I believe I might be able to whip up some poetry myself if only I could recall how Haiku is written. Saturday, August 12, 2006. Have any of you ever had the Vermonty Python flavor of Ben and Jerry's ice cream? Delicious. I highly recommend it for any of you Ben and Jerry lovers out there. A few d...

A Journey of Five Million Steps. Saturday, October 07, 2006. The Conflicts I Now Face. After walking away from my Appalachian Trail life almost two weeks ago, my thoughts and feelings about the past journey, the present moments, and the future decisions seem to conflict and even contradict each other at times. What will become of our dear friends that we met enroute to our common ground, Katahdin? Have I learned enough to change the parts of my life that need changing? Who am I, now? Do I want to? Katahd...

A Journey of Five Million Steps. Thursday, March 30, 2006. The Next Series of Unfortunate Events: Blind Dates. To continue with my story book life. Soon after I made my home in North Carolina in 2001 the locals began to bombard me with one particular question. "Are you dating anyone? Of all of the guys that I was set up with, the first should have been a clue as to how the rest of my blind dates would play out. So as not to upset anyone, let's call date #1: Bob. Bob was an engineer (not bad, eh? I lean o...

A Journey of Five Million Steps. Saturday, September 30, 2006. September 25, 2006:. It will be over soon enough. After the sign at the top.then what? No more white blazes, no more of this life that I have grown accustomed to. Good-bye to my life long friends. Good-bye to this dream that I have been living for half of a year. Half of a year! Could it be possible that I am here? Ascending the last few steps of a journey that has built me up and torn me down? Fortunately the emotion of taking the final step...

And so I wait. I'm just a girl trying to find my way through this world, trusting the hand of the One who wrote the road map to guide and direct each step that I take. Life wastes itself whilst we are preparing to live." Ralph Waldo Emerson. Tuesday, October 20. Meaning of Life moment. Mmmm "This is the best drink in the world! So instead of getting angry (which I wanted to do quite badly), I began laughing out loud. Consciously noting that God was most effectively teaching me a lesson about my foolhardy attempts at getting meaning from life. Have you had a "meaning of life" moment lately? Monday, October 12. This is what I saw today. Sunday, October 11. Look before an...

Life wastes itself whilst we are preparing to live." Ralph Waldo Emerson. Wednesday, March 17. This is how I know spring is here. There is nothing like warm sunshine on a new spring day. I'm discovering the first buds on the trees, daffodils pushing up between dead leaves and rocks, and song birds cheerfully greeting me in my predawn walks with the dog. Can a bracket be a bracket without the tarheels? March 21, 2010 at 11:27 PM. My brackets stink this year. And a few flowers sticking up through the snow.
Wide Open Spaces: the beauty of frigid temperatures

Life wastes itself whilst we are preparing to live." Ralph Waldo Emerson. Tuesday, January 12. The beauty of frigid temperatures. To the best of my ability to recall past events, I haven't laced up a pair of ice skates since I was 20 years old. Now crunching the numbers, and doing the arithmetic, that calculates out to be about 11 years of winters absent of the beloved activity of ice skating. I love this picture of the lake and your rink. Awesome. January 13, 2010 at 6:17 PM. January 18, 2010 at 9:24 AM.

The Gottschalk Online Family Reunion. Monday, April 4. Okay, so you haven't heard from us in Arizona for awhile. We've had a few things change since our last postings, and if I fill you in, I hope you'll forgive us. And let's don't forget homework. The Gottschalk Online Family Reunion. Friday, March 11. Okay, so I rarely post recipes here, but I just. To share this yummy one for the crock pot. Even Jackson loved it. He bypassed the garlic cheddar biscuits I made to have more stew (and he adores biscuits). Please keep in mind that it does have a little "bite" to it, but you can adjust the seasons, as desired. (Plus, the "bite" wasn't any deterrent to the one-year-old, so come on, you can handle it! BTW, I love parentheses! Green Chile and Pork Stew.
