Digital Drawing | georgie davies
https://geeeorgieee.wordpress.com/2014/06/05/digital-drawing
Digital drawing is something that I really should get a handle on. As I said in my Image Editing. Post, digital drawing is something I anticipate needing in my future career, even just in making basic graphics for video, which is my focus. I only have my laptop’s trackpad, and while a tablet would make this exercise far more fruitful, I don’t have one, so I just want to get the basics down so I can move forward from there. For my drawing, I followed the instructions here. It kinda looks like a cat? This ...

Skype | georgie davies
https://geeeorgieee.wordpress.com/2014/06/05/skype
I left my Skype conversation late, so I did not do it with another student, but did call my sister and my baby nephew. I’ve never used Skype before, believe it or not. I’ve always been a chat sort of person rather than video, and while Skype has this feature, Facebook chat, iMessage and What’sApp have always met my needs. Blurred out my phone number for reasons. Was created by some of my classmates, and takes a look at the experiences of international students as they adjust to life in Melbourne. The fantastic video is below. I thought the way it was set up was brilliant – introducing each of the interviewees by having them hold up a name card worked very well, helping immediately contextualise who each person was and their background. Screen grab from the video above. Screen grab from the video above. This video is rather beautiful visually. The creators ha...

Audio Editing | georgie davies
https://geeeorgieee.wordpress.com/2014/06/06/audio-editing
I did my share of audio editing in undergrad, and it was never my favourite. I don’t know if this was because of how much I adore editing video, and audio didn’t quite match up, or if it’s because my lecturer for Audio Production wasn’t… the best at teaching. I’ll be nice. Online Storytelling | georgie davies
https://geeeorgieee.wordpress.com/2014/06/05/online-storytelling
Online seems to be the way to tell stories these days. As someone looking to get into telling fictional stories, online is a great resource for self-publishing. YouTube (and its contemporaries), while hardly new platforms, provide great formats for people wanting to get into video production, and there are many blogging formats in which writing of all types can be published. I’ve highlighted some examples of online storytelling below. Is the biggest site, but ao3. Is also a huge archive. Video and writte...

#SpreadTheWord | georgie davies

And I worked on our Digital Story together. We made a video that examined how videos go viral across multiple platforms. Our video, Spread The Word is here. It also has a Twitter. Our video is supposed to show the intricacies of online sharing, and how things can cross over multiple platforms. By using #SpreadTheWord, we’re encouraging people to use the hashtag across all platforms in order to spread interesting and funny videos virally. Alice and I both bought different things to the table with this pro...
