January 10, 2017. 8216;Having someone help you along the way doesn’t mean you failed. It just means you’re not alone’. When you don’t look sick it can be so difficult for people to have empathy. It’s hard for people to wrap their heads around what’s going on. Every single day I am grateful to have these guys as a part of my life. Without them I could...

039;When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on so tight in the first place'. My Journey – Youtube. Follow me on Instagram. December 12, 2016. January 10, 2017. I guess you could call this the ‘sick person parody of a morning routine’. My mornings are always different, one is never like the other. For me ev...

Having a colostomy – Crohn's Chronicle
https://crohnschronicleblog.wordpress.com/2016/06/17/having-a-colostomy/comment-page-1
June 17, 2016. On June 7th, I had a loop sigmoid colostomy to divert activity from my bowels due to Crohn’s Disease. The whole process was very simple, and I’m recovering well from the surgery, so I thought I’d write a few words to explain exactly what I went through, as well as maybe provide some tips or words of advice for other people looking to get an ostomy in the near future. Do up your drainable bags! The blood in the bag is totally normal. The incision on the other side is from the laparoscop...

The stoma journey so far… – Crohn's Chronicle
https://crohnschronicleblog.wordpress.com/2016/04/05/the-stoma-journey-so-far
The stoma journey so far…. April 5, 2016. In October 2015 I was admitted to hospital through the Emergency Department for surgery to stretch a stricture. I ended up needing two procedures to alleviate my symptoms, and after the second stretch they discovered that I had active Crohn’s Disease including fissures and ulcers as big as 2cm. The next time I saw my doctor wasn’t fun. He’d run out of options to offer me, the best he could offer me was diversion surgery to give my bowels a break (forever?

https://crohnschronicleblog.wordpress.com/2016/04
April 6, 2016. Ten things that are scary about having a stoma:. Not being able to wear my favourite skinny jeans ugh they’re so comfy. Having to wear low cut skinny jeans instead like it’s 2005 no thanks. Not being able to go into the crowd/mosh pit at a concert. Going into the crowd at a concert and exploding over everyone. Having to change the bag up to six times a day. Explaining to people that no it’s not weird I just have a bag of poo glued to me. Having to carry supplies around in case of emergency.

March 15, 2016. In 2005, I was twelve, and I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. I’d spent the best half of a year developing weird symptoms – painful and swollen ankles that we taped up because we thought it was just a sprain, constant mouth ulcers, a sore stomach that mum tried to fix with Gaviscon (Gaviscon, mum, seriously? The stoma journey so far…. 2 thoughts on “ Hello world. March 16, 2016. Thank you for sharing. My 18 year old niece has been diagnosed recently. March 16, 2016. Liked by 1 person.

About – Crohn's Chronicle
https://crohnschronicleblog.wordpress.com/about
I’m Sarah. I’m 22, I live in New Zealand, and I have Crohn’s Disease. Specifically, I’m 22 and I’m about to have surgery for a permanent ostomy. In my panic, I immediately turned to google, only to find sites with smiling elderly people living their lives. While I’m happy for them, it wasn’t the most relatable content I’d have liked to see. So I decided I’d put myself out there for other 20 somethings to find. My experiences with an ostomy. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.
