Good Times at Goats Rock Ranch. The Pro’s and Con’s of Free Range Chickens. August 11, 2013. Well our mama hen has been missing since the flooding occurred the other day. She had hatched 9 chicks earlier this spring, raised them up to independence and then dutifully sat again until she hatched another 6 not but a week or so ago. With all the rain I hadn’t even got photos of that clutch. Today we finally located her, a pile of feathers outside the fenced chicken pasture😦 No chicks of course to be found.
