We did not want to pay any money for maps and fancy GPS devices, that’s for sure. This is what worked for us and we think it might work for you as well, but there are definitely other options ( let us know. If you have a better solution! We have a windows laptop and an android phone, if you have that (a Mac would work too), you’re good to go. Before you go: Planning at home.

In Mexico we have started taking GPS coordinates and short notes of our campspots. We didn’t do that in the USA, but there are some pretty good resources already available (such as www.freecampsites.net.
