Getting Back to Scratch

Getting Back to Scratch. Monday, October 19, 2009. Every time I start writing about figs, it leads to insects. Maybe this is because the first house I lived in that had its own fig tree was in San Diego, where there is also the Cotinis mutabilis,. My attempts to change the sad state of affairs were, well, fruitless. 8220;Eww, no! A PBS docume...

Getting Back to Scratch: Welcome

http://gettingbacktoscratch.blogspot.com/2009/09/welcome.html

Getting Back to Scratch. Wednesday, September 2, 2009. Maybe we could take in boarders – offering them a room and a meal a day for rent? Luckily none of this has come to pass but it did spawn a lot of conversations about how people weathered past economic hard times. Is it really a savings – given the time and effort to make food from scratch? Labels: Cooking From Scratch. September 3, 2009 at 4:22 PM. So blog on and inspire us. Getting Back to Scratch: Peaches

http://gettingbacktoscratch.blogspot.com/2009/09/peaches.html

Getting Back to Scratch. Tuesday, September 29, 2009. I usually shy away from buying peaches in the market, even the locally grown ones. They are all picked green and never ripen right, and they are awful, pithy things. Pithy. What a great word when applied to an idea, what a not-so-great-word when used to describe the quality of a fruit. A ‘pithy peach’ - with all its pleasing. They were perfect. Good, juicy, perfectly sweet peaches. Slice peaches to the size you want. Pack peaches in sterilized jars.

Getting Back to Scratch: August 2009

http://gettingbacktoscratch.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Getting Back to Scratch. Monday, August 10, 2009. My first trip to Oregon from a parched southern California, was in mid-August. I found mountains, their sides thick with trees rising up to volcanic peaks, and wide rivers with actual water running in them. There was a clarity to the sky or maybe a scent that was carried in the air that spoke to me of paradise. Along with all that the blackberries were ripe. And everywhere. Growing in an abundance that seemed reckless. I camped. I taught them berries young.

Getting Back to Skinny Mini

Getting Back to Skinny Mini. Friday, July 25, 2014. When it rains, it pours. Just checking in. I check in on my fellow bandsters blogs occasionally. A bunch of bandsters I'm friends with on Facebook too. But I feel like I should check in on my own blog as well with a bit of an update. We didn't know it at the time, but coming back from Christmas vacation at New Year's and finding our entire bathroom covered in mold was kind of a sign of things to come for the new year! I could actually go on and on with ...
