Exit 109: May 2012
http://exit109.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 08, 2012. One of the things I love about Josh Ritter is that you can tell he's having fun - you can hear. The smile in his live songs, like the one above. It comes through on "Empty Hearts," too. Particularly the "Don't let me into this year with an empty heart, an empty heart" refrain. There's nothing wrong with either approach, and it's not to say that the reverse isn't true of either one. But to me it seems like Bruce works first, plays second. Josh does it the other way around.

Exit 109: Maine afternoons
http://exit109.blogspot.com/2011/08/maine-afternoons.html
Saturday, August 06, 2011. While my mom cut my hair. I couldn't have been more than 10. But somewhere along his route that afternoon, my uncle John had knocked the key from the ignition. The tractor continued purring along, but when John went to turn it off back by his driveway, his hands came up empty, so he stalled it and decided he'd figure out the key problem later. Exit 109: September 2010
http://exit109.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 22, 2010. Matt and me and Nolan. Then, rather suddenly last Saturday, it was determined that Casey and I will be going to Cooperstown on Thursday to spend the night. Friday is our fifth anniversary and in discussing what we wanted to do this year, we weren't really keen on another fancy dinner in New York City, which we've done for each of the past four. Last year, after reading a story in The Times. Casey brought up the idea of using our National Parks Pass, bought in March. Before ...

Exit 109: A perfect Maine day
http://exit109.blogspot.com/2011/08/perfect-maine-day.html
Friday, August 05, 2011. A perfect Maine day. Amazingly, even after beginning with a chocolate croissant breakfast, this day continued to get better. From the Village Bakery and Cafe. And perhaps the best part of it all? While this was all being prepared, we put on some of my uncle's records for background atmosphere, beginning with Darkness on the Edge of Town. It's rare enough that we listen to albums/CDs/mp3s in order as it is, but to hear Darkness. Crosby, Stills and Nash. Lou Gehrig in Asbury Park.

Exit 109: January 2011
http://exit109.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 29, 2011. Recklessly dashing through the snow. Today's technology changes everything. Now a snow day is not just a day off from school, a chance to bundle up, find a hill and let gravity entertain you. Bring along a camera and it's an event, one to watch back at the house - and in years to come. On another run, when I couldn't keep the sled from drifting to the left where the forest dropped off into a shallow gorge (but with a drop steep enough and the trees close enough that you wouldn...

Tuesday, August 02, 2011. Only, doing it at night, in the fog, and I somehow missed the driveway - yet I knew it right away. Whoops. Tomorrow, I'll take stock of the place in the daylight. Exit 109: June 2012
http://exit109.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 28, 2012. Josh Ritter at The Stone Pony, June 27, 2012. Yeah, the photo's not ideal, but I decided I didn't want to be That Guy standing there with his phone in the air above all the heads, constantly trying to shoot the concert. If I'd wanted good photos, I'd have brought an actual camera and scouted out a good place to stand that wouldn't inconvenience too many people behind me. I guess I'm just one of the few considerate concert-goers. Joy To You Baby. A new song; solo). Girl In The War.
