HPBA Missions: Gospel Debt
http://hpbamissions.blogspot.com/2012/06/debt-of-gospel.html
The Purpose of This Blog. Wednesday, June 20, 2012. The Apostle Paul explained his desire to preach the gospel in Rome in these words: I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise. Romans 1:14). In what sense did he owe a debt? As Americans, we usually see the gospel in terms of personal salvation. The individualism of our culture causes us to miss the global or universal aspects of the gospel. As someone recently put it, the gospel is not what Jesus has done for me. Why Per...

HPBA Missions: Missions Priority Scale
http://hpbamissions.blogspot.com/2012/03/missions-priority-scale.html
The Purpose of This Blog. Saturday, March 3, 2012. At the Missions Forum I attended last week, I was introduced to a booklet entitled. Becoming a World Changing Church. By David Mays. In it he has what he calls a "P-scale" that "describes a hierarchy of missions priority in the local church." As you read through the descriptions, at what level would you find your local church? At what level would you find yourself? Missions as a Possibility. Missions as a Project. Missions as a Program. Church leaders an...

HPBA Missions: Another Look at Acts 1:8
http://hpbamissions.blogspot.com/2012/06/another-look-at-acts-18.html
The Purpose of This Blog. Monday, June 18, 2012. Another Look at Acts 1:8. Various attempts have been made to apply the geography of Acts 1:8 to the personal situation of Jesus' disciples. A common view is to see "Jerusalem" as the city/town/village where one lives, "Judea" as the state/province/district, "Samaria" as the nation, and the "uttermost parts" as the world. The writing of missiologist David Mays has given me another way of understanding these levels. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

HPBA Missions: Unanswered Prayer
http://hpbamissions.blogspot.com/2012/03/unanswered-prayer.html
The Purpose of This Blog. Saturday, March 10, 2012. It is popular to say that no prayer goes unanswered as long as we take "No" as an answer. Other possible responses to our prayers, other than getting what we asked, include "Wait" and "No, but here is something better." However when God responds in one of those ways, we can know it. We "hear" His answer in our spirit. What about when nothing at all happens? Labels: 1 Peter 3:7. Jeremiah 7:16; 11:14; 14:11-12; 15:1. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

HPBA Missions: EFFECTIVE EVANGELISM
http://hpbamissions.blogspot.com/2013/05/effective-evangelism.html
The Purpose of This Blog. Wednesday, May 22, 2013. That our churches (and we as individual believers) are not as effective as we would like to be in seeing lost people find transformed lives in Christ. When we read the Book of Acts, we marvel at how the first disciples were able to make such an impact when they had much less than we do in the way of resources. However, when we look at Jesus’ parable of the seed and the sower, we see that only four things are needed for a fruitful harvest. Even good seed ...
