The Diary of a Mad, Fat Woman. Sunday, April 5, 2009. Here is the site of the unfinished obelisk. After much of the obelisk is carved out, the carver does a crack test. They have to chip away at the surface when writing hieroglyphics, so if the stone should chip, it is of no use. This one did not pass the test and you can see where the stone cracked. This obelisk was commissioned by Hatshepsut. Below are pictures of the Nile and my cruiseship. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

What's for Dinar?: Field Trip to the Scientific Center!
http://whatsfordinar.blogspot.com/2009/04/field-trip-to-scientific-center.html
The Diary of a Mad, Fat Woman. Sunday, April 19, 2009. Field Trip to the Scientific Center! We went to see a 3-D Imax film called "Fly Me to the Moon." It was a cartoon of course, but very good! Three flies aspire to reach the moon. They stow aboard a shuttle with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin and travel to a place no fly has gone before! Afterward, we went for a walk and captured this endearing picture of my grade 1 students! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

You can see on the right, there looks as though there. Is some construction. Now look below for further explanation.). This is a mosque that was built upon the Temple before it was even found! Could you imagine having the hollow temple below you for who knows how long! This temple as well, was found by Christians and turned into a Church.

The Diary of a Mad, Fat Woman. Tuesday, January 6, 2009. More of my trip to Doha, Qatar. Upon entrance to the Souq Wafiq, you find a flock of pigeons. Food is left for them, so I don't think they ever leave! Corridors in the Souq Wafiq. Kids can take a donkey ride in the Souq. Men sit on these benches which are lined all down the walk way with small hookah stands. They sit and smoke and talk with other men. Colourful hookah pipes in the Souq Wafiq! Michelline and I driving out into the desert! The buildi...

lamberrymer: City Life
http://lamberrymer.blogspot.com/2009/06/city-life.html
Wednesday, June 03, 2009. So after 2 weeks, Owen is adjusting to city living very well. he is super-stimulated by all the action on Yonge Street and at Eglinton Park and by all the dogs in our neighbourhood. It is definitely a dog neighbourhood but he hasn't had an opportunity to be off leash in quite a while so today we ventured to Sherwood Park. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://lamberrymer.blogspot.com/2009/06/introducing-mackenzie.html
Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Activity on the blog has been slow as we've been adjusting to life with our new daughter, Mackenzie, who is officially 17 days old today. born via c-section on June 10, 2008 - 7lbs 10oz - 22 inches. After a challenging 9 months, I'm just so thrilled that she is here safe and sound. So very thankful. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
