Getting to the Heartland

Saturday, July 31, 2010. Through reading Compassion: Reflection on the Christian Life. By Henri Nouwen, Donald McNell, and Douglass Morrison, and through my study of 1 Peter for our small group bible study and listening to sermon's preached at Covenant Life Church by Joshua Harris and Robin Boisvert, a theme has begun to emerge. Whenever that happens, I try to pay attention; I believe God speaks to my heart in such themes. From the 5/2/2010 sermon "The Hope/Holiness Connection" by Joshua Harris:. Be more...

Getting to the Heartland: December 2008

http://www.gettingtotheheartland.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, December 11, 2008. Apparently lots of people needed to find their snow legs. This little clip from the local paper shows that I wasn't the only one having a little trouble with the weather on Tuesday. There must be some happy medium between the hype and needless closings we frequently saw in Atlanta and this:. A little snow causes 650-plus traffic accidents in Wichita area. Source: Kansas.com: Local12-11-2008 6:32 PM. Authorities didn't hide their frustration Wednesday. Getting to the Heartland.

My 30 Favorite Things About Kansas. 1 My double rainbow – seen out of the apartment the day the moving truck was scheduled to arrive, it’s memory is my constant reminder that we are where God desires us to be and that He has a purpose for us here. Getting to the Heartland: Wow, almost a full year since my last post!

http://www.gettingtotheheartland.blogspot.com/2010/05/wow-almost-full-year-since-my-last-post.html

Saturday, May 22, 2010. Wow, almost a full year since my last post! A whole year since my last post! A feeling that I began to experience about a month ago is beginning to get stronger and stronger: I am falling in love with this place. Not sure how or why or what it will all bring, but yes, I am falling in love with Kansas! I was driving about 40 miles southwest of home today to see a patient and the feeling I had as I viewed the wind dancing in the fields of amber topped wheat was glorious!

Getting to the Heartland: The Blizzard that Wasn't

http://www.gettingtotheheartland.blogspot.com/2009/03/blizzard-that-wasnt.html

Saturday, March 28, 2009. The Blizzard that Wasn't. Earlier this month I signed up to get weather alerts text messaged to me on my cell phone. Since it was the beginning of Tornado season, I thought it was a good idea. So, Thursday afternoon at about 4:00 I 'm driving to a small town east of Wichita when the alert notification sounds on my cell phone. It said: "A Blizzard Warning has been issued for Wichita, KS". What? But the weather forcasters were insistant! And although we were concerned about what a...

a joyous journey: Haunting

http://kimberlyjoymac.blogspot.com/2013/12/haunting.html

Monday, December 30, 2013. The acid test of biblical God-centeredness—and faithfulness to the gospel—. Is this: Do you feel more. Loved because God makes much of you, or. Because, at the cost of his Son, he enables you to enjoy making much. Does your happiness hang on seeing the cross of. Christ as a witness to your worth, or as a way to enjoy God’s worth. Is God’s glory in Christ the foundation of your gladness? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I've been to 90. Kim is an explorer that:.

Saturday, September 21, 2013. This speaks volumes about journalism priorities to me. We must stop. If this was Europe or America it would be headline news EVERYWHERE (good job CNN). We must stop seeing people as others, and seek to see everyone in a similar light. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I've been to 90. Kim is an explorer that:. Occasionally strays off track. The life after....: Ghana 2010

http://ellen-newbeginnings.blogspot.com/2010/11/ghana-2010.html

Saturday, November 27, 2010. This is my attempt at recording the experience of Ghana - my first trip - July 8 - 21, 2010. After months and months of planning, shopping and crafting we were finally ready to pack! There were 4 of us traveling to Ghana and we were allowed 2 checked bags each so we had a total of 8 tubs or 400 lbs. of cargo space/weight we could carry. It all fit and we had some space to spare! 2000 of them to be exact! Once we completed the check in process and cleared security (thanks to w...

The life after....: May 2009

http://ellen-newbeginnings.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 5, 2009. A few months ago I found myself being challenged - at the morning service at my home church of RiverStone. The challenge was to define the perfect father. Job 36:26 (English Standard Version). Behold, God is great, and we know him not;. The number of his years is unsearchable. The more dangerous period of time was for that period of time when I thought I had it all figured out - that I was doing a good job! Ha, ha - little did I know in my immaturity that I was being set up. But now...

http://onebizybee.blogspot.com/2011/02/still-small-voice.html

The daily ponderings and wanderings of life in "Bee's garden". Wednesday, February 9, 2011. The Still Small Voice. Mommy, will you cuddle with me? Most mothers will tell you that those are their favorite words in the English language. Not me. I cringe when I hear that. Not outwardly, but it means I must do something I detest: Choose. These are the whispers I hear from the still small voice of God. Posted by GCC Kids Camp. Beautiful, my friend! August 26, 2011 at 5:38 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

One Bizy Bee: You watered what?

http://onebizybee.blogspot.com/2010/06/you-watered-what.html

The daily ponderings and wanderings of life in "Bee's garden". Tuesday, June 8, 2010. Sometimes as a homeschooling parent, I find that my children have learned lessons that I didn't even think had gotten through. Well, the other day, " Ladybug. Very excitedly told me she watered her garden. Well, she dragged me up to my room and pointed to my bed. "Look, Mommy! I even watered the seed! And she had indeed "watered" the acorn. Three times from what she told me. At least she learned her gardening lesson.

The daily ponderings and wanderings of life in "Bee's garden". Sunday, November 21, 2010. The Anger Monster Within. Have you ever wondered, dear reader, why it is that when you buy a new car, you suddenly see that car on the road every where you go? I remember when I bought my first van, and apparently everyone else had gone out and bought one the same day. It seems that the only people on this earth that are able to wake this monster within are my own lovable monkeys. They don't mean to do it, I jus...

Getting to the end | Sometimes writer, sometimes reader, always a dreamer

Getting to the end. Sometimes writer, sometimes reader, always a dreamer. July 31, 2015. I finally set my pride to the side to tackle the adjudication. Email that I have been avoiding way too long. Preparing myself I set up a plan. 1) Read the notes at the library, giving me no chance for loud emotional outbreaks. 2) Read through the whole bit at once, not finding just the negative bits to dwell over. 3) Write down notes as I read to further dissect the comments. Bad thing, they pointed out silly mistake...
