This film gave information that I was completely unaware of before, and I am truly fascinated by the culture. However, after watching this film I feel I have a greater understanding of this cultural practice as well as the emotional toll it takes on the girl who is hoping to become a geisha. December 14, 2012 at 2:32 PM. The sexual connotation and the devotion required by the Geishas were the most surprising aspects of the documentary for me. I also had no prior knowledge of the profession.
