Thoughts on cycling and writing. One of my goals this year was to complete the Etape Caledonia. In under 4 hrs. The Etape was on the 13th May, so how did I get on? Well, I completed it in 4hrs 13 mins. Outside of the 4hrs, but within limits. The weather was less than ideal. Although the rain stayed off while I was riding, there were 17mph headwinds as we wend down Loch Rannoch, and up to 20mph headwinds on the descent from Schiehallion and through Fortingall. Thoughts on cycling and writing. Scottish Bike Show Sportive. This was the inaugural Scottish Bike Show sportive. 950 riders took part – not bad for the first their first event. This ride took me back to the Trossachs for the third time in as many weeks. And my third time over Duke’s Pass – this time from Aberfoyle on the south, to Loch Achray on the north. Thoughts on cycling and writing. Evans Cylcles Ride IT – First sportive of the season. Last Sunday (1st April) I took part in the Evans Cycle Ride IT – Scotland Sportive. This is the first of my training events in the run up to the Etape Caledonia. The route started in Callander and went though some of the best roads in the Trossachs, including going over Duke’s Pass twice. And joy of joys, the weather was fantastic. This is a short video taken going over Duke’s Pass from north to south.
