M. Ian Ross: Foliage sketches
http://ianrossillustration.blogspot.com/2008/07/foliage-sketches.html
Tuesday, July 15, 2008. A couple quick foliage studies I did recently. Very challenging, but a lot of fun to try. Pencil on big wrinkled paper). Gouache on watercolor paper). A long awaited new post! Great studies, man. The tree shape is cool and I especially love the loose quality of that gouache one! July 16, 2008 at 12:26 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Blow Your Horn, Hunter! M. Ian Ross: The Steadfast Tin Soldier
http://ianrossillustration.blogspot.com/2008/05/steadfast-tin-soldier.html
Sunday, May 18, 2008. The Steadfast Tin Soldier. Here are a couple pieces I'm working on for my class, from the Hans Christian Andersen story "The Steadfast Tin Soldier." Gouache on illustration board, with some lighting and color help courtesy of Photoshop. The end goal is to have these be two finished pieces of a 32 page storybook. I'm working on sketches and designs for the rest of it now, and if they turn out alright I'll post em up. January 16, 2009 at 8:43 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

http://ianrossillustration.blogspot.com/2009/04/construction-paper-critters.html
Friday, April 17, 2009. Where'd the POSTS go? Got in on the fun and made a butterfly, along with some wonderful calligraphy for his room. Welcome to the world, Emmett! I was wondering what the wall critters looked like. Very cute! April 27, 2009 at 5:32 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Blow Your Horn, Hunter! Craig Thompson (Doot Doot Garden).

M. Ian Ross: The Silver Surfer Rides Again
http://ianrossillustration.blogspot.com/2007/07/silver-surfer-rides-again.html
Sunday, July 1, 2007. The Silver Surfer Rides Again. Looking at some older artwork of mine has made me remember how absolutely ape-shit I used to be over superheroes. Spiderman. Daredevil, the Hulk.I loved all those guys. For one reason or another, I moved onto other artistic interests not long after high school, and hadn't drawn a superhero in years. (except Spidey. A couple weeks ago, but that doesn't count. He's really just some crochety. July 1, 2007 at 11:45 PM. Can't wait to see the actual painting.

M. Ian Ross: Better Buy in Bulk...
http://ianrossillustration.blogspot.com/2007/07/better-buy-in-bulk.html
Monday, July 16, 2007. Better Buy in Bulk. The phrase popped into my head one day last week, and I wanted to get it down onto paper before I forgot it. India ink on copy paper.colored in Photoshop. I wonder how much giraffes by the gallon would cost? I hope they come in something other than plastic bottles. That won't be very good for the environment, especially since I have a huge insatiable need for giraffes. July 17, 2007 at 10:31 AM. July 18, 2007 at 10:30 AM. Thanks for the comments, guys!

M. Ian Ross: The Freedom of Youth! (part 1)
http://ianrossillustration.blogspot.com/2007/04/freedom-of-youth-part-1.html
Monday, April 30, 2007. The Freedom of Youth! A friend of mine. Has been posting drawings from days long past, and he's inspired me to do the same. It’s amazing what you find when you go through the boxes in your basement. I need to give a big thanks to my mother for saving all this stuff. I’m grateful to have it. Did I like it more than CANDY? Along with soccer, there was football. I drew the Chargers. I drew the Rams. I still think the Rams have some of the coolest helmets ever. What the heck is this?

M. Ian Ross: Spidey Reads The Funnies...(Ketcham study)
http://ianrossillustration.blogspot.com/2007/06/spidey-reads-funniesketcham-study.html
Sunday, June 17, 2007. Spidey Reads The Funnies.(Ketcham study). Last Friday I told myself I would paint SOMETHING over the weekend, and in order to keep the promise I worked on a study for the Spiderman of 2007. It felt great to break out with a little bit of color and brush work and spend some quality time off the computer. Ahhh, rough lines! This is a goauche wash on bristol paper. Thanks for the lesson, Hank! And if there are any Dennis fans out there who haven't read The Merchant of Dennis.
