Some (semi-)rational ramblings on culture, science, religion and philosophy. A Recent Trend in Religious Thought. Posted by Michael Lopresto. Asymp; 2 Comments. Allow me to use two examples to introduce what I have in mind. 1 Jews and Circumcision. There is a current push by some Jewish organisations that all males be circumcised, preferably at birth, but even as adults if they are as yet uncircumcised. Why do Jewish organisations and the people who comprise them believe such a thing? This seems to be th...

Critique by Michael Lopresto, 16 Jan 2013. In Beyond Human Nature. Jesse Prinz (2012), a staunch empiricist, sets himself the task of setting the record straight against the now seemingly dominant rationalist or nativist view in psychology and cognitive science. bradshaw of the future: Word crimes
http://bradshawofthefuture.blogspot.com/2014/07/word-crimes.html
Bradshaw of the future. Thursday, 17 July 2014. I knew that Weird Al Yankovic was a grammar snob. Is just insulting. People who use less with count nouns (like Shakespeare) were raised in a sewer. People who use figurative "literally" (like Dickens and Fitzgerald) are stupid. Use any words that Yankovic doesn't like and you're a "moron", "dumb mouth-breather", "spastic", haven't finished second grade. I'd like to think he's aware of the irony, that he's being just as childish as he accuses others of being.
