Gibsons Nature Watch

Monday, August 3, 2015. A tricky venture, mainly the cutting of the perspex was a bit of a chore, but it is installed and working as it should. A five dollar desk from the Zero Waste store at GRD, some repairs, some tile and wood and a bit of free paint. Voila! A potting table with plenty of storage and a waterproof top for young Karen to do her experiments on. Saturday, August 1, 2015. We kept our distance, because truly, no-one wants to piss off a black bear with a set of triplets. It's a tough old life.

Gibsons Nature Watch: June 2015

http://www.gibsonsnaturewatch.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Karen was busy too. While I was making the planter box, Karen was painting the almost finished front side of the greenhouse. It was essential that we both worked today as somehow we had to justify having wine on a Tuesday night. As if we need an excuse. Another short work day, a couple of hours today as we get closer to the finish line. End of the day, the stained planter box, and a couple of the original frames remain for another project. Sunday, June 28, 2015. The heatwave conti...

Gibsons Nature Watch: Yard Sale Surprise

http://www.gibsonsnaturewatch.blogspot.com/2015/08/yard-sale-surprise.html

Saturday, August 1, 2015. We were down on Chaster Road this morning at a yard sale, just parked up and Karen started shouting at me "Look, look, a mother bear and three cubs" and at first, for the life of me, I could not see them. Then there they were, in all their total magnificence, three of the cutest cubs imaginable and a big 350 pound mamma bear. We kept our distance, because truly, no-one wants to piss off a black bear with a set of triplets. Not our photo, but you get the idea. Welcome to the blog.

Gibsons Nature Watch: February 2015

http://www.gibsonsnaturewatch.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 15, 2015. Magnitude of the earthquake is being reported between 3.4 to 3.6 up around Salmon Inlet. Saturday, February 14, 2015. 812pm 3.5 Hello. We were watching the Walking Dead, it was 8.12pm and we both heard what sounded like distant thunder, but it became louder. Then the side of the house started to shake a little and then the whole house had a little shimmy, doors and windows rattled for a second or so. Our first bona-fide earthquake. Let go of my Lego. Gibsons Nature Watch: September 2014

http://www.gibsonsnaturewatch.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 13, 2014. Start of a twelve mile walk in White Rock last week. I had all my hair chopped off for the occasion. Still smiling, probably the beer kicking in. We spent the entire day, almost, hop harvesting up at the brew farm. It was a volunteer effort but they rewarded the brave with unlimited beer and pizza, so it would have been foolish to not offer our services. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Welcome to the blog. Gibsons Nature Watch: May 2015

http://www.gibsonsnaturewatch.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 31, 2015. Door frame and partial siding. Today was a usual lazy day, and we had some beers in the garden instead of going off to the Blackfish pub. Another free 4x4 was acquired and we progressed the garden and the greenhouse. The door frame is in with two 4x4 posts that were free from Gibsons Building supplies, and I progressed the siding with the ten foot long window ledge wood. It's amazing that it was just seventy cents a piece. It does not get better than that. Picnic Table no more.

The Fool on the Hill: Hit the ground running

http://weldondiary.blogspot.com/2010/06/hit-ground-running.html

The Fool on the Hill. Saturday, June 12, 2010. Hit the ground running. In the last three months I have bought myself, via my ebay dealings, into a commanding position in the technological miracles of 2005. I have acquired a pair of pocket PCs, Dell Axim X51v's - the Vee being all about the VGAness of the units. Imagine that, VGA - say it slowly, Video Graphics Array. Exciting new, old technology. Liverpool boy living in Canada, lots of memories of family, work and play. View my complete profile.

The Fool on the Hill. Wednesday, May 5, 2010. In this ever decreasing circular world of social websites I feel as though photoshop and hiding behind caricatures and avatars is becoming more and more important, especially as I age and the hair grows back in, here is the eggplant version of the author, I notice that this is the first entry for 2010 - must be all those other blogs that are keeping me busy. The Fool on the Hill: Château de Chasselas

http://weldondiary.blogspot.com/2010/06/chateau-de-chasselas.html

The Fool on the Hill. Sunday, June 20, 2010. I think I'm becoming quite bored with the old interweb, although slick and sometimes not so slick websites are trying their darndest to interest me with embedded advertising. The Monty Python four Yorkeshiremen sketch comes to mind as I think back about the beginnings of my own web experience, the dial-up Q-Link on my Commodore 64 with a 1200 baud modem (that be four times as fast as a 300 baud) - "Luxury! And "You were Lucky" as the only source for my online ...

The Magnet: October 2012

http://daveweldon.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 25, 2012. Looking back, it may have been that year that caused the pair of us to pivot, a start to the sprinklings of thoughts about what we should be doing with money. I suspect it still was two years off at this point, but the man with all the gold and the cigars certainly made a couple of bottom feeders like ourselves realise that we were not in control of our money. But, added "stupid taxes" at the end did little to surpress our joy at destroying that second mortgage. It was back in...

The Magnet: Timeslip

http://daveweldon.blogspot.com/2015/04/timeslip.html

Sunday, April 12, 2015. The timeline, always a constant, and I think we're around 1993 in the proceedings. I would recount everything that happened in 1992, but that was a tragic year for my family, the year that my youngest brother, Paul, was killed. In the next few entries though, I will recount the other events, because they too deserve to be told. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Fool on the Hill. The Taxi Drivers Son. The Magnet: February 2013

http://daveweldon.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 26, 2013. One of the things I realize as this blog and my story progresses is that the web is a very public place, so in some respects, as I name people in future entries, context will be important, knowing that some are very sensitive to criticism or have been rightly labelled by myself as psychopaths or sociopaths. You know, a selection of the darker side of the population that we all end up working with. Right, with that disclaimer out of the way, I can continue with this diatribe.

The Magnet: December 2013

http://daveweldon.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 27, 2013. I realize that I wasn't a job shopper long enough, it wasn't even a year at Menasco and I really did not learn anything about being a contractor, well, maybe a bit, but mostly, my mindset was still very much that of a permie. Permie, is that the right spelling? Perhaps it was, it was usually followed by wanker, for the full effect of the insult from the jobshoppeur, so my short tenure as a jobshopper was followed by a longer period of time as a PW. Yet, I persisted. I had the r...

The Magnet: I did not realise at the time....

http://daveweldon.blogspot.com/2015/05/i-did-not-realise-at-time.html

Monday, May 11, 2015. I did not realise at the time. It seems that a lot of my time is spent here in the present, reflecting about the past and wondering what would have been different if I had done something in a different way and how things may have turned out or how people would have been affected. That being said, I regret not writing down what was happening in 1992 and '93 and I did not realise at the time how important it all was. We had talked on the phone a few weeks before and Paul had mentioned...
