Horizons | Another Day in the 'Swich
https://intheswich.wordpress.com/2011/06/09/horizons
Another Day in the 'Swich. Ipswich from the perspective of those who love her. Crane Beach. Often listed as one of the best beaches in the country. It’s in Ipswich. Less than half an hour’s drive from my home. And it’s a beautiful drive past farms, lovely antique homes, and the Great Marsh. As close as it is, I don’t get down there enough. To tell you the truth, I could be there every day, and it still wouldn’t be enough. What’s the big deal? Just like the sea itself, the horizon has different moods....

Life and Death… | Another Day in the 'Swich
https://intheswich.wordpress.com/2011/02/02/life-and-death
Another Day in the 'Swich. Ipswich from the perspective of those who love her. Life and Death…. My next door neighbors are dead. No, not just reserved, quiet people who keep to themselves. They’re dead. I live next to a cemetery. Which in New England isn’t that odd. I wonder if you can drive 5 miles without passing an old “burial ground” or family plot, or active cemetery. Ipswich sure has its share. Laquo; Winter Sun. Date : February 2, 2011. North shore, MA. My ancestors child is buried in Ipswich.

Winter Sun | Another Day in the 'Swich
https://intheswich.wordpress.com/2011/01/29/winter-sun-2
Another Day in the 'Swich. Ipswich from the perspective of those who love her. Just when we’ve resigned ourselves to dreary and gray, a day dawns like today. There is simply nothing as joyful as winter sunshine. In the morning it filters through the trees creating fingers of blue shadow on pink-tinted snow. The sun climbs higher and sends its rays skittering across the expanse of whiteness. Individual flakes wink. Laquo; Theatre… Ipswich’s future? Life and Death…. Date : January 29, 2011. North shore, MA.

Watching the river run | Another Day in the 'Swich
https://intheswich.wordpress.com/2011/03/11/watching-the-river-run
Another Day in the 'Swich. Ipswich from the perspective of those who love her. Watching the river run. The Ipswich is running deep and fast today… quite a change from last month or last summer. But it still runs. As much as it changes it stays the same. There’s nothing new under the sun. Change is constant, but it still affects us deeply. The simple changing of the season, so welcome this time of year, is treated with entreaty and anticipation, as if Spring has ever failed to arrive. The river will keep ...

Beach or trees? | Another Day in the 'Swich
https://intheswich.wordpress.com/2011/02/10/beach-or-trees
Another Day in the 'Swich. Ipswich from the perspective of those who love her. It was the biggest conflict we had. While trying to choose where we wanted to live in New England, my husband and I agreed on most criteria: antique house, a bit more land than absolutely necessary, quiet neighborhood. But we went back and forth on whether we placed a higher priority on trees (living in a wooded area) or proximity to the ocean. Ipswich solved the dilemma. With one foot on Crane’s Beach,. Another Day in the 'Swich. Ipswich from the perspective of those who love her. Theatre… Ipswich’s future? There’s no escaping. If you’re in Ipswich, “historical” is unavoidable. And hey, that’s one of the attributes I love about this place. I live in an antique home, and I still thrill to the thought that all this old stuff around town is REAL, not reproduction, not simulation. The plans for the theatre. Can you tell that I love theatre? So the possibility of live theatre in Ipswich sets my heart racing&...

The First Time… | Another Day in the 'Swich
https://intheswich.wordpress.com/2011/12/21/the-first-time
Another Day in the 'Swich. Ipswich from the perspective of those who love her. The First Time…. It has come to my attention that people can be very nervous about the “first time.”. No, not that. You know the one. The painting that calls your name, catches your eye, draws you closer daring you to take it home… hm… maybe there are more similarities to that other thing than I thought. It’s going to be amazing, I promise! Date : December 21, 2011. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Notify m...
