Lily was diagnosed with Pulmonary Vein Stenosis (PVS) during an open-heart surgery to correct an AVSD (a heart defect that is common in children with Down Syndrome) in June 2011. PVS is a rare condition (less than 1.7 out of 100,000 children under the age of 2), so it’s often hard to find information about what the condition is and how it will effect Lily’s life. Celebrating life the only way we know how…. The Deets on DS. There are absolutely no words to describe the day we had…but of course I’m going to try. By the time 7pm rolled around, Lily pretty much dove to get into her bed. One more minute and this cake may have ended up on the ground – this bug is totally into throwing everything! 2 great women: Janet, Lily’s vision therapist, who nominated our family, and Ana, the founder of Million Dollar Smiles. No one pushes a swing better than Pa. 5 Years of Love.

We are now 2.5 years past this and while there are certainly a stream of everyday challenges, Lily never ceases to amaze us with her drive.
