Joy in the Journey: October 2010
http://jensenjoy.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Joy in the Journey. Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Time Out for Fun. Kids are great at reminding us to slow down and take a few minutes for nonsense that ends up making perfect sense. Tonight after dinner I gave Kirby the option of watching a movie or playing a game. He said, "Oh! Can we play that game where you stand up until they break you down? I always thought Red Rover was a little violent but it turns out that with a 2- and 4-year-old, it makes great family entertainment! Posted by Brittany Jensen.

Joy in the Journey: July 2011
http://jensenjoy.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Joy in the Journey. Saturday, July 30, 2011. One day last year when we were driving somewhere, Kirby asked about if he could do something in the car, and if he could do that at home as well. I can't remember what we were talking about, but my response was, "When we get home, too, indeed we can! He thought that was hilarious, and when I asked why he was laughing, he responded, " You named our house 'Indeed We Can? I like houses with names, like in Anne of Green Gables. Anyway, I think that "INDEED, WE CAN!

Joy in the Journey: Adventures in Parenting: Nutella Edition

Joy in the Journey. Monday, January 30, 2012. Adventures in Parenting: Nutella Edition. After tucking the boys in bed, Greg and I were watching a movie in our room. All was quiet and peaceful, until I heard water turn on in the kitchen. I went in to investigate and Kirby told me, "We were just cleaning up.". I saw chocolate around his mouth and thought, " Great. They've been into some chocolate chips in the pantry. Seriously, Nutella. Who knew? When Greg came in, I was washing Kirby's hands while Sam was...

Joy in the Journey. Monday, August 22, 2011. Strawberry Muffins: Delicious. Oh, and Safe! In an effort to continue blogging somewhat regularly, I want to tell you about these muffins. They are blueberry muffins, a fabulous recipe from my fabulous sister in law, with strawberries substituted for the blueberries. I thought it up yesterday when I made the blueberry muffins and tried the substitution with just 2 muffins, then had to make a whole batch today because they are my new favorite. 1 3/4 cups flour.

Joy in the Journey: September 2010
http://jensenjoy.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Joy in the Journey. Sunday, September 26, 2010. Hey, where's my paring knife, Mommy? Does your 4-year-old say that, too? Maybe I give Kirby too much of a free range in the kitchen. Yes, he has what he calls his "own" paring knife, and he uses it pretty deftly. He is currently working on The Apples. So if you have one or more of these. And lots of these. You may need one of these! And possibly one of these. Posted by Brittany Jensen. Confessions about Chocolate Chip Cookies. Well, I've done it again. ...

Joy in the Journey: January 2011
http://jensenjoy.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Joy in the Journey. Wednesday, January 19, 2011. Greg just came in the kitchen and asked me, "How old do I look? I tactfully told him "27 1/2! He is 28.) The question surprised me though because he never says stuff like that so I naturally inquired why he wanted to know. He said he was at a meeting today and someone asked him if he had kids. Greg said, "Yes, three." The guy then said, "So, do they live around here? They sleep in my bed! Posted by Brittany Jensen. Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Peas for my Pod.

Joy in the Journey: Gingerbread Monkeys!
http://jensenjoy.blogspot.com/2012/01/gingerbread-monkeys.html
Joy in the Journey. Saturday, January 21, 2012. A message from Kirby, which I think would make a good non-swear-word expletive. You never know what that kid will say or do. Or take pictures of when he steals my camera. What I want to know is, why can he get pictures of Sam and Jiorji that aren't fuzzy, while they never hold that still for me? Kirby, tasting his first bite of dinner the other night. I have to say, I think that he is. But I may be biased. Sam, you can do it, you're a smart boy!

Joy in the Journey. Monday, August 23, 2010. Apple Pie and The Attack of the Picnic Table. The other day at lunch Kirby asked Greg if they could make apple pie. I had given the boys some grape tomatoes and they were eating them as Kirby was saying, "Apple pie! The next day I had the tomatoes out again and was putting them back in the fridge and Sam started pointing to them and saying, "Apple pie! Apparently he thought that's what we had been referring to. I called out. "Don't ask! He replied. Later h...
