https://doriety.wordpress.com/2014/10/14/we-received-our-i-800
Our journey to bring our daughter home. We Received our I-800! What’s the time frame? We’ve been told it takes about 2 weeks from the time we receive the I-800 to get the NVC letter. That would be next Wednesday, but a PDF version can be requested. I requested one as soon as I knew how, but I’ve heard nothing. Crazy making I tell you! The kids are eager too, especially E. Our journey to bring our daughter home. Monthly Archives: December 2014. From Orphan to Daughter. I have to share some pictures of our sweet little girl! She seems to love us already. She is going to fit in well. She likes to sleep and loves to laugh. We are so blessed! I wish you all could have heard them shouting her Chinese name when we went in. It’s been hard not to call her by it because of the way it grabbed her attention. It was meal time while we were there….congee. Congee is rice b...Her nanny p...

February | 2015 | A New Name
https://doriety.wordpress.com/2015/02
Our journey to bring our daughter home. Monthly Archives: February 2015. Sorry for the delay in updates. We have not been sleeping like we once did. Caris finds a reason to wake up almost every night (gas pain, being cold, attachment–i.e. Momma are you still here? 8221; Now, he didn’t seem like a jovial kind of guy, but I tried to respectfully state the obvious. I was thinking, “For goodness sakes, you’re a heart doctor. That is the whole reason we came! 8221; I replied, “From the PDA surgery she h...

Our journey to bring our daughter home. From Orphan to Daughter. I have to share some pictures of our sweet little girl! She seems to love us already. She is going to fit in well. She likes to sleep and loves to laugh. We are so blessed! Our visit to the orphanage went well. Caris didn’t cry (thankfully) when we went or when we left. She played with the nannies but she was ready to go when it was time. I hope our pictures and video will be good for her later. Her nanny politely asked if she could feed he...

Getting Settled | A New Name
https://doriety.wordpress.com/2015/01/07/getting-settled
Our journey to bring our daughter home. Hope you all are off to a great 2015! And walks holding our fingers. She loves her big brother and sister and they love her. We taught all our kids some very basic sign language before they could talk (to teach them to use “words” and not scream). She signs “more”, “eat”, “milk”, and “bath”. Our first week home she woke up in the middle of the night (A LOT! She is soooooooo smart! All of our kids have endured their parents’ goofy idea of “Crazy Hair Dor...She must ...

October | 2014 | A New Name
https://doriety.wordpress.com/2014/10
Our journey to bring our daughter home. Monthly Archives: October 2014. I pray someone in China is celebrating you today! If not, we will do our best to make up for it. I promise, as long as it’s within my power, your first birthday will be the last lonely birthday you ever have. Next year you’ll have a homemade cake and hopefully a favorite American meal by then. If not, I will learn how to cook Chinese dumplings or whatever it is you like. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. October 26, 2014. Octob...

Gotcha Day!!! | A New Name
https://doriety.wordpress.com/2014/12/08/gotcha-day
Our journey to bring our daughter home. Our prayers we’re answered! This is one of the nannies walking in with her. We got some “lucky” pictures and video because it was nearly impossible to tell which one was ours. We wanted to be sure not to charge at someone else’s baby, we waited to be very last. There were lots of people between us and Caris, so when they got out of the way I pointed to her and asked if that was her by saying her Chinese name and pointing. She was waving at Caris as she left. I pray...

DAYS OF GRACE: Dollywood - Harvestfest
http://davidandjillybean.blogspot.com/2013/12/dollywood-harvestfest.html
Friday, December 13, 2013. Ken and Lynn really wanted to make a trip to Dollywood with us, so we headed up the first weekend in October to enjoy a beautiful fall day in the mountains. Starting the day off right - breakfast at Chick-fil-A! Anthony found his duck buddies and gave them some kettle corn. There were such cute fall displays throughout the park. Time for another kettle corn break. It's not a trip to Dollywood unless Anthony rides the bees. Waiting in line for the cars with Bop-Bop. This quote i...

DAYS OF GRACE: December 2013
http://davidandjillybean.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 15, 2013. Whether you are visiting us for the first time, reconnecting with us, or have been a faithful follower, we thank you for taking the time to check out our family's blog. David and I first started this early on in our marriage to allow friends and family to keep up with us and revived it a couple of years ago so those in Atlanta could do the same following our move to Tennessee. For those we don't see as often as we may have in the past, know we miss you and think of you often, b...
