What a special day it is! Today is the first day of Spring and to celebrate I'm sharing my tulip pix from my recent visit to the wonderful Filoli Gardens. There were tulips everywhere! They came in every color. I was in flower heaven. The gardens are cared for by professional gardens and hundreds of volunteers. March 20 is also a day there is a solar eclipse and the super moon! It was a wine country outing to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday - "no more gifts, just experiences." Before we got to the winery, we stopped at a garden and art center. This is much more than a place for plants or trinkets - it features gardens as sites for artistic expression. There are about 20 small walk-through gardens, lined up gallery style. A day at the beach. Ah, the beach! For more than thirty years, we have a family tradition of going to a special spot on the north coast every summer. Two weeks ago was her birthday, and I gave her a wooden tray that I had painted and distressed a bit. Now she can take her tea and pretzel bagel up the stairs on this tray. My grandfather is an amazing man. He is a true cowboy. He and my grandmother raised 8 children and 2 grandchildren in a small "cow" town in Colorado.
