Shark Attack: Love thy enemy
http://sharkattackuk.blogspot.com/2007/11/love-thy-enemy.html
A blog showcasing the musings of Mark Mills. Tuesday, 27 November 2007. At the height of the civil war within the Labour party that eventually led the creation of the SDP, Shirley Williams issued a warning to anyone complacent about the danger of the extreme left. I was reminded of that quote by events. What makes someone a true anti-fascist is not joining unite against fascism or waving placards in the rain but the willingness, simultaneously, to tolerate and to challenge views we find repulsive. In 'Th...

Shark Attack: December 2008
http://sharkattackuk.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
A blog showcasing the musings of Mark Mills. Wednesday, 24 December 2008. Markets aren't all bad. We need to follow the facts rather than the zeitgiest. The present crisis has been a boon for simple minds on the left, much as the fall of the Berlin wall was for their counterparts on the right. We need more thoughtful analysis than ‘more state, less market’ if we are going to understand what is happening to our economy and how we can stop it. Tuesday, 23 December 2008. Not in God's name. If we look away f...

Hug A Hoodie: Desert Roadtrip – Part One, Qumran
http://hugahoodie.blogspot.com/2011/07/desert-roadtrip-part-one-qumran.html
Wednesday, 13 July 2011. Desert Roadtrip – Part One, Qumran. Qumran is on the coast of the Dead Sea, about 30 miles from Jerusalem, and it takes less than an hour to get there. It’s very much on the beaten track, just off the main road and well marked out with brown tourist roadsigns. It looks so normal, it’s easy to forget where you are. I’ll pick up the rest of the story tomorrow in another exciting instalment. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Altrincham, Cheshire, United Kingdom.

Hug A Hoodie: Minor bus disaster
http://hugahoodie.blogspot.com/2011/06/minor-bus-disaster.html
Sunday, 26 June 2011. One of my friends from the course here is called Marijn, from the Netherlands. Most people on campus know him as the one whose name they struggle to pronounce. He's a theologian, with a special interest in the Old Testament and a good grasp of classical Hebrew - but here to improve his modern spoken Hebrew. The two of us went into the modern city centre of west Jerusalem for a drink this afternoon. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Altrincham, Cheshire, United Kingdom. Law student...

Amiable Dunce: Dixon, Illinois: Reagan's Small Town
http://duncery.blogspot.com/2008/11/dixon-illinois-reagans-small-town.html
History, culture, Ronald Reagan and stuff. Monday, November 3, 2008. Dixon, Illinois: Reagan's Small Town. Last week, I wrote a piece for the New Statesman's election blog. I submitted this as well, but it doesn't seem to have made the cut. The shame! Amiable Dunce, though, is still a reliable host for my writing.). At the dedication of his Presidential Library, Ronald Reagan took the opportunity to muse on his past and its contemporary relevance:. It was the rise of the city, too…You know, those s...

Amiable Dunce: October 2008
http://duncery.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
History, culture, Ronald Reagan and stuff. Monday, October 20, 2008. Would President Reagan Have Knelt Before Zod? Following a several month long hiatus, I have decided to resurrect this blog for three reasons. 1) It is a useful means of procrastination. 2) To plug the possibly short-lived Three Weeks in America. The musings of my sister as she ambles round the States. 3) Because the presidency looks like it will be getting some attention in the near future, and I may as well Be Part of History as well.
