TechbrarianTalk: Long Overdue Update
http://techbrariantalk.blogspot.com/2011/06/long-overdue-update.html
About books and information literacy. Friday, June 3, 2011. I have been too busy to add anything to my blog for many months. I am currently trying to update my "Teaching in the Cloud" skills and would welcome any comments about any online tools that you are finding useful in K-12. Also, we are incorporating some iPads into some of our elementary classrooms, and I'd like to hear from some of you in that area. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. School Library Things: Thing #19: Web 2.0 Awards List
http://schoollibrarythings.blogspot.com/2009/07/blog-post.html
Friday, July 17, 2009. Thing #19: Web 2.0 Awards List. It was really hard to stop once I got started with this list. Like the saying goes, "So many books (Web 2.0 tools), so little time". I started with YourMinis. Next I looked at Netvibes. I also looked at Mango Languages. Which is a subscription tool for learning conversational skills in foreign languages, and Picnik. School Library Things: Thing #22: Nings
http://schoollibrarythings.blogspot.com/2009/07/thing-22-nings.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2009. I've been somewhat confused about the difference between blogs, wikis, and nings, so I Googled the terms and found lots of discussion on the topic. The most humorous explanation I found was by John Maklary here. Blogs - one voice at head of table. Wikis - equal voices around the table. Ning - big honkin' party. So in ning, bounce/brainstorm ideas. Back and forth discussion. Actionable ideas/consensus get formed and articulated on wikis. Labels: Library 2.0. Me in the mountains.

School Library Things: Thing #20: YouTube, TeacherTube and Zamzar
http://schoollibrarythings.blogspot.com/2009/07/thing-20-youtube-teachertube-and-zamzar.html
Sunday, July 19, 2009. Thing #20: YouTube, TeacherTube and Zamzar. Obvious ways that teachers will find these sites useful are as teaching tools, for reviews, for emphasizing parts of a lesson, for reteaching, as a quick focus on particular areas of study, and more. Students might use them also to review, or to embed into presentations for assignments. One of the videos I chose to embed into this post is from TeacherTube, and focuses on the themes in To Kill a Mockingbird:. July 22, 2009 at 5:26 PM.

http://techbrariantalk.blogspot.com/2009/07/thing-23-summary.html
About books and information literacy. Thursday, July 16, 2009. Thing #23 of 23! What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey? Some of my favories were Wordle, dialoging with other bloggers, and learning how to embed videos and graphics with code. Of course, creating the avatar was fun, too. How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals? Were there any take-a-ways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you? I would definitely be intere...

Saturday, June 27, 2009. Thing #10, part 3. Sorry to keep talking so much about image generators, but I've had a lot of fun with this and want to see my pictures on the blog. This one was created with the jigsaw puzzle tool in Dumpr. The photo was taken at a youth camp in South Texas. Beautiful place. Thing # 10, part 2. ImageChef.com Poetry Blender. We have a teacher at my school who is crazy about happy faces. I can't even imagine what all she could do with Happy Face Generator. Kay, are you listening?

School Library Things: Thing #18: Online Productivity Tools
http://schoollibrarythings.blogspot.com/2009/07/thing-18-online-productivity-tools.html
Thursday, July 16, 2009. Thing #18: Online Productivity Tools. To become more Web 2.0 savvy. And of course the best part of all. they are FREE! For severely underfunded schools, this could be a huge advantage. I really had not explored Google Docs enough to know what all was there. Besides the documents, presentations and spreadsheets, I'm impressed with the hundreds of templates that are available. I will definitely be using the flash cards, as well as the gas mileage chart when we go on vacation.
