Little Lisa On the Road(s). Monday, May 16, 2011. We set out to see it with my brother, sister-in-law, and their three kids. As we drove North, out of town, the landscape became hilly. Perhaps because of the hills, I find this part of Iowa especially beautiful. The road twists and turns though woods until it comes to the massive concrete wall that holds back the water, the lake created when the river was damned. At every step, there was a fossil. Little Lisa On the Road(s). Sunday, October 24, 2010. The swimming hole was a sliver of a river- sand and gravel on one side and a cliff face on the other. A few trees grew from the rock face, but huge boulders stood at the feet of the rock cliff and from the sandy and rocky side, the ground sloped downward into a cool pool of deep water.
