Silver and Light: A Photoblog: The Gates
http://kattia212.blogspot.com/2005/02/gates_27.html
Silver and Light: A Photoblog. A neophyte explores photography armed with a Canon A80. Sunday, February 27, 2005. I visited The Gates. Saturday afternoon. It was a cold day, but people were out in droves. I know that many have been underwhelmed at the artistic merits of the piece, but personally I think that as an experience, the installation was a success. Ultimately, some liked the piece and others didn't. But in those moments among the crowds, we all knew we were sharing something together.

Did you know that 16% of the U.S. population goes fishing at least 16 days a year? Did you also know that over 75% of the nations fishermen do not fish during "prime time"; fish feeding hours? Check out Daniel Eggertsen's story, and a picture of a couple of his catches here : "Evening Secrets plus more". A Slow, Long Stretch.

Round and Round It Goes: March 2005
http://whereitstops.blogspot.com/2005_03_01_archive.html
Round and Round It Goes. Thursday, March 31, 2005. New York: My East Coast Love. I met New York for the first time recently, after years of hearing so much about her, seeing her on the television, reading about her past. It was a quickie, a fly-through and grab all you can get in three days, but it was more than enough time for me to fall in love with her. Before I got there, before I even got on the plane in Long Beach, I received an indicator of how my trip was going to go. A preface, a foreshadowi...

Rational Blues: September 2005

Thursday, September 29, 2005. Another conservative sound bite. Bill Bennett is a hateful, fascist moron. If you don't know my reference, take a quick look through my blogroll; the fine folks at Irregular Times, or Archy, or Orsinus will probably fill you in. Shakespeares Sister probably reams him too, but I haven't been there yet. Posted by mycroftdavis @ 11:43 PM. Comes from Ronald Brak, with a Hattip for Living the Scientific Life. By way of P.Z. Comment-link {margin-left:.6em;}. Friday, September 30, 2005. On a tour through Slashdot's political channel (notice how the graphics change? This article appears around the bend. A subject, you'd think, of intense interest to every reader and commenter. But do ANY of the 250-plus commenters show ANY sign of making their comment to someone in charge (of the real live issue, that is, not the blog containing lots and lots of talk about the real live issue). Of course not. The Fracturing of the Internet.

Round and Round It Goes: Am I Losing You?

Round and Round It Goes. Thursday, October 20, 2005. Am I Losing You? The only saving grace is this guy:. Standing rather remotely behind the Chicken at the entrance to Bottle Cap Alley, this embodiment of the Aggie Spirit is almost enough to make me forget about the plastic ugliness of the rest of the changes. Alas, in life he is no more, as the Bonfire has not risen since it fell in ’99, and any Aggie will tell you we lost a lot more than twelve lives that day. Anyway, the manager could see pretty well...

This photo was shot in Florence at Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, the repository of the original artwork of the nearby. What is it about angels cast in stone? Wings spread, gazing benevolently? There's something oddly comforting about these frozen figures which capture me every time. Posted by Kattia @ 3:42 AM. Hello fellow fisherman,. A Slow, Long Stretch.
