At the end of January I was selected for a last minute charity place to run the London Marathon for APEC (Action on Pre-Eclamspia), giving me just over 2 months to train. I wont lie, it hasn't exactly gone to plan. I got a rather horrid cold which put me out for a good couple weeks, and I've had on-going ankle problems. Poppy has been with us just over a week. She is a husky puppy from Woodgreen Animal Shelter. Her story is sadly like so many. She was bought just before Xmas from an advert on Gumtree. She was raised in an outside enclosure with a shed, her parents, 6 siblings and some other dogs. CaniX and Mud and Mayhem. The next CaniX event after this was meant to be Alice Holt, but the weather put a stop to that. We didnt fancy travelling in severe wind so we gave that one a miss. The first weekend in march was Salcey CaniX not too far from home. The course this time consisted of 50% bog which didnt impress Pippa too much and resulted in a slightly slower time than last time we ran the same course. 24:34 and 3rd place for us. So given Scott's suggestion that there was nothing catastrophic Kenz could do at this stage I went ahead and entered her in the NYE Dances with Dogs trial at Gawler. We only needed one more pass her for her heelwork to music starters title before the new rules would require an additional pass and I was pretty confident she would come through for me. Any way an awesome way to finish up my birthday - two lovely passes. Clever girl Kenz. Posted by ness bc.

Thursday, July 25, 2013. The latest in the run of "bad luck". So yesterday the girls were back to see Matthew for a check up. The "good" news is that Matthew felt the patellas weren't significant enough to warrant surgery. They seemed to withstand a reasonable amount of pressure and remain in the groove correctly. Monday, October 7, 2013. A weekend of trialling - Kenz Rally Advanced Title. Just over a fortnight ago Kenz's world was turned upside down when Ness ruptured her cruciate just one day after her 13th birthday. The last fortnight has been focused on making sure everything would be set for Ness to have surgery.
