She found out her HIV status while still in school after she fell sick and was diagnosed with typhoid and malaria at a clinic where they also did the HIV test. In 2008, the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) in Kampala Uganda created a Transition Clinic to provide specialized care and treatment for 800 HIV positive young adults, 16 to 24 years old.
