Sunday, October 29, 2006. Our recent trip to the NC Mountains contains three sections. The first weekend was spent near the Linville Gorge Wilderness. Next, we spent several days at the Chimney Rock - Lake Lure Area. The final weekend found us near Franklin, NC at the mouth of the Cullasaja Gorge. This post will deal with the Linville Gorge Wilderness. The next two posts will deal with Chimney Rock - Lake Lure and Cullasaja Gorge respectively. I'm not sure, but I think that the view is looking south from...

Sunday, July 15, 2007. A female Ruby Throated Hummingbird has laid claim to our feeder in front of our dinette window. She likes to sit on the line in front of our window to guard the feeder from intruders. Here she is. pulling guard duty. Look at what else showed up later in the afternoon - A female Cardinal! Sunday, October 16, 2005. The whole program was not this way, in fact, Grandaddy June Bug, story teller was excellent. Today was an absolutely magnificent day from a weather standpoint. We ate lunch on the patio and had a Gulf Fritillary ( butterfly) flitting around the garden. We later took our 3 mile walk around the lake and I took a sample of the beautiful day to share with you. Sunday, August 27, 2006. Another highlight was this morning. We went to the Seven Lakes Chapel in the Pines and heard "Dust and Ashes". Angie had picked up one of their CDs about a year ago and we have all but worn it out by playing it. We have been trying to catch one of their performances for quite some time. Sunday, July 30, 2006. Are leaving Ocracoke harbor on Monday morning enroute to Cedar Island. Due to the fact that our truck and trailer are 45 ft. total length, we paid $40.00 for the 2-1/4 hour ride. Now, obviously, this is not our ferry but one that arrived simultaneously with our departure. As we departed, we saw the Ocracoke Light house standing guard over the harbor. Maybe not as spectacular as the taller spiral Hatteras Light, but attractive in it's own unique way. Links to this post. Here's a pic...

Sunday, May 06, 2007. She didn't figger it out until we walked in the door and I wished her a happy birthday. Everything worked out well. The 6 foot long sub sandwich was delicious and I don't have to tell you that the ice cream cake was good. The pictures will speak for themselves. Posted by Bob @ 5/06/2007 03:17:00 PM.
