You can't smoke or eat trans fats in a growing number of U.S. cities, and there's pending legislation aimed at stopping people from listening to their headphones while walking across the street. This is a recent phenomenon - I guess they're running out of ways to spend our money, so they have to resort to cracking down on the life of everyday citizens in order to avoid boredom in the legislature. People who eat in front of me when I'm hungry.

Hey kids, here's something cool. It's always amazed me how Adobe gets away with charging for what is essentially both a free product and an open format. Most people don't know this, but PDFs are not Adobe's invention. Anyone can legally write software to create and edit and read PDFs because Adobe doesn't own the patent - it's non-proprietary. Mac OS X lets you save to PDFs any time you want, and has had this functionality since 2001. Adobe's Acrobat Pro charges you $450. A 45 minute download over a modem.

So this whole N. Korea thing has gotten pretty interesting lately. I read on Drudge today that we had a very nice test of our missile defense system, which seems (sometimes) very capable.
