Slumping Technique | Glass Design

Allows glass to distort, stretch and move under the influence of gravity or mechanical force to take the shape and light relief detail of a supporting mould. Variation of slumping temperature. Depends on glass type used and identical glass types do not adhere at slumping temperatures. Once the slumped glass shape is complete it requires annealing to reduce the stress of cooling to room temperature. Fusing Technique | Glass Design

Glass melts into a semi fluid state and the contact surface of glass blends into neighbouring pieces, taking shape and surface impression from moulds that may be supporting the material. Varies according to glass type and fluxes involved. It is crucial that compatibility exists between additional materials, i.e. colours, other glass types, or metal inclusions used in the fusing technique for the annealing process to reduce the stress of cooling to room temperature.

The pieces in question are called Hobsons Choice, portraying dancers from the Ballet titled Hobsons Choice.
