Gleanings From The Word: September 2016
http://gleanings757.blogspot.com/2016_09_01_archive.html
Gleanings From The Word. Friday, September 16, 2016. It's All One Story. Only the living can praise you as I do today. Each generation tells of your faithfulness to the next. Why is it that we hear of rather prominent Christian leaders towards their lives losing their zeal? They become apathetic and sometimes even cynical. Is it because they have lost sight of the fact that their own little corner of the world is not the beginning or the end? Remember, the Apostle Paul spent a lot of time in prison or ho...

Gleanings From The Word. Saturday, May 14, 2016. They said to him, “Be silent, put your hand over your mouth and come with us, and be to us a father and a priest. Is it better for you to be a priest to the house of one man, or to be priest to a tribe and a family in Israel? The Levite in this passage was hired by Micah to be his household priest for ten pieces of silver ( Judges 17:10. The Bible says that the worker is worthy of his hire ( Matthew 10: 10. You cannot serve God and mammon. Ken Barnes the a...

Gleanings From The Word. Thursday, August 18, 2016. The Least Among Us. The best live among us in disguise.". So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity. I Corinthians 12:24 NLT). God has designed the Body of Christ so that the people we might regard as less honorable to receive extra care and honor. The parts of the body that appear to be weakest and less important are the most necessary. Why must we honor these people among us? Of cou...

Thoughts about a Servant's Heart. Monday, November 28, 2016. But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. I Peter 3:15 NIV). We must always be ready to defend the Gospel of Christ, but that does not give us the right to be harsh or disrespectful of people with different beliefs than ours. He is another one of those Moonies I said to myself with disdain. I simp...

Gleanings From The Word: Weak or Willful Sinners
http://gleanings757.blogspot.com/2017/01/weak-or-willful-sinners.html
Gleanings From The Word. Monday, January 2, 2017. Weak or Willful Sinners. Be merciful to those who doubt;. Save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh (Jude 22-23 NIV). In the Book of Jude, we are given instruction on dealing with people who are straying from the truth. We are to show mercy to all, but it appears that with ones departing from the righteousness, there are different methods in responding to them.

Gleanings From The Word: Reputation
http://gleanings757.blogspot.com/2017/01/reputation.html
Gleanings From The Word. Saturday, January 7, 2017. Mary, the mother of Jesus. And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned to send her away secretly. (Matthew 1:19 NASB). Our reputation, in many cases, can be a result of our wrong choices, but not always. In other instances, like Mary the mother of our Lord, her reputation was the result of embracing the will of God. Reputation is what people think about us. Character is what God knows about us. Mary, to the con...

Thoughts about a Servant's Heart. Tuesday, July 5, 2016. Fear God And Honor The King. Show respect for everyone. Love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God. Show respect for the king. ( I Peter 2:17 NLT). The Bible is very clear that we are to fear God and respect those that God has placed over us. This instruction is valid for leaders who we disagree with or even find their views repugnant. In the next verse ( v. 18. In Acts 23: 1-5. That he never retaliated. If we speak disrespectfully, even in...

Thoughts about a Servant's Heart. Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Harran, they settled there. Abram, who would become Abraham, the father of many nations, set out with his father, Terah, to travel to Canaan. They settled in Harran, about halfway to Canaan. It is noteworthy that our promised land is not just ...

Gleanings From The Word: October 2016
http://gleanings757.blogspot.com/2016_10_01_archive.html
Gleanings From The Word. Sunday, October 23, 2016. I am forgotten as a dead man, out of mind;. I am like a broken vessel. (Psalms 31:12 NASB). The concept of a man being a broken vessel is hard for the human mind to comprehend. Two messages revealed by the Cross of Christ help us grasp this spiritual state. Namely, that life follows death, and that joy always comes after mourning. God the Father, because Jesus took on our sins, had to turn away from His beloved Son. I think there is something we can do.
