Beautifully situated on the Virginia/West Virginia line overlooking the New River and Blue Ridge Mountains in Giles County, Virginia. Earlier in 1755, Mary Draper Ingles made her trek back home from captivity through here where her Dutch companion attacked her. She escaped and found a canoe, and used it to cross the river to her rescue by Adam Harmon. The town of Glen Lyn was incorporated by order of Circuit Court of Giles County, January 30, 1926. Mary Porterkilled by the indians November 28, 1742.
