A Garden Designed for Living. Article: Notes From The Past. Developed in a nursery more 50 years ago, Swainwood is known for its fine homes and mature landscapes. A walk around Lake Glenview from Swainwood is about 4 miles, and these photos show the natural beauty of the area. By March, 1941, ten homes had been finished, seven of which had been sold, and four more under construction. Thanks to Dave Strey and Tom Shurer for researching and providing these photos of the original development of Swainwood.
