Glimpses of Holy: The Cost

http://glimpsesofholy.blogspot.com/2011/01/cost.html

Saturday, January 8, 2011. On Christmas Eve, a homeless man was found in our church. It seems that he has been staying there at night for quite awhile. Although the police were called, no charges were pressed and they let him go. An act of mercy on a cold Christmas eve. He has since been back to the church, somehow finding a way to pry open a door to get in. After a week of several trips by the police, our exterior door locks have been made unpriable. We are pretty sure he hasn't been back. Which all lea...

Glimpses of Holy: February 2010

http://glimpsesofholy.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 26, 2010. Our Israeli tour guide's name was Alan. Except for the time that we were in Jordan, Alan led us from site to site, explained historical events, read us Scripture, and helped us picture the Holy Land at the time of Jesus. Alan told us many stories - including his own. First, he can't get past God's first two Commandments (Exodus 20:1-2):. 1 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me. For m...

Glimpses of Holy: Anointed

http://glimpsesofholy.blogspot.com/2013/03/anointed.html

Thursday, March 14, 2013. Well, I must say, I wasn't as impressed by the second episode of "The Bible" as I was the first. There were a couple things that bothered me, but I won't get into them here. I'm not sure if I like. The fact that God's angels and His army often remind me of Ninjas - or if that bothers me. I guess I just have never pictured angels looking and acting like Ninjas before. Who knew? The Hebrew word for Messiah is Mashiach. Which mean "the Anointed One." Christos. The aroma of Christ.

Glimpses of Holy: My Journey to Seminary

http://glimpsesofholy.blogspot.com/2014/03/my-journey-to-seminary.html

Friday, March 28, 2014. My Journey to Seminary. TRG 501 : Theological Reflections. Foundations for Theological Thinking. I suppose my journey to seminary began the moment I stepped through the doors of Fellowship Lutheran Church as their Children’s Minister. I can’t say ministry was something that I had ever before felt called to do - it found me quite accidentally. I believe my call to ministry was handed to me as a gift from God. How could we follow the same Jesus? I trust the answer to become clear.

churches and checklists. | Pieces of April

Laquo; I am a bus driver. Sticks and stones may break my bones…. Posted April 17, 2011 by April in Religion. Every person has a checklist when they are looking for a new church home. Right? Now we are starting new. We are able to go anywhere we like. This has opened us up to some options and questions. Some are easy to know like:. We are shy of “Firsts.” (Too much baggage. Both ours and the church’s.). So what do we want? Do we want to switch denomination? Today we began our journey and some clarificatio...

Laquo; Sticks and stones may break my bones…. Friends are Friends Forever… or something like that. Posted June 30, 2011 by April in Thoughts. A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words. It’s hard that the majority of my “besties” are way too far away for me to actually drive and see them. Does it make me seem cool and popular to have friends in other places? I thought I was the only one C.S. Lewis. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You are...

Overcoming my unbelief. | Pieces of April

https://aprilmcgrew.wordpress.com/2011/07/19/overcoming-my-unbelief

Laquo; Friends are Friends Forever… or something like that. Posted July 19, 2011 by April in Religion. In these past two years, our views on others and love have changed, and for the better. I believe that. More than that, I have entertained seeds of doubt about God: Does God. Does God really care? Is God the active, intimate Being that we proclaim? Is religion even necessary? Does it do any good? I’ve felt the pressure to walk away from God. Also, would it align me with the people who say and do. It&#82...

Laquo; churches and checklists. Friends are Friends Forever… or something like that. Sticks and stones may break my bones…. Posted June 3, 2011 by April in Thoughts. 8230; but words will always hurt me. Some days I believe I am an amazing writer and that people like to read what I passionately and lovingly place on (digital) paper. Some days I believe that I am talented with my artistic endeavors. https://aprilmcgrew.wordpress.com/2011/04/14/i-am-a-bus-driver

I am a bus driver. Posted April 14, 2011 by April in Religion. Alternately titled: The post where I reference a 15 year old Christian song, highlighting both my age and my failure to evolve with some types of music. I am a bus driver. And it’s four in the morning. And I’m pressing out my clothes beside my bed. Fourteen years been on the job and with many miles behind. Still I’m up at three thirty to make sure I’m there on time. My car gets me along just fine to and from the station. And what do I know,.

Glimpses of His Goodness

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Have you heard the song, “Don’t Get Comfortable” by Brandon Heath? Loren and I felt strongly that it would be beneficial for our daughter to know how loved she was and to not only hear it from us, but to also hear it from her birth family and to have the opportunity to have a relationship with them throughout her life. How many times would we see each other throughout the year? What kinds of things would we do together? What would Luna call her birth family? I realize that not all...

Glimpses of Hope

Who God REALLY is. Sunday, October 16, 2016. I hate politics. Usually I completely ignore what everyone has to say about the issues and candidates, research for myself, and then vote. This election cycle has been brutal. I honestly don't care who you vote for, but please read the following before you spew stuff all over Facebook or any other form of social media.
