April 16, 2014. March 30, 2015. This low, compact, tufted perennial grass has stiff upright stems. The long leaf blades have a fine tip. The flowers are in characteristic spike-like pyramids. Crested dog’s-tail is a common grassland species, found in old meadows, and tolerates poor soils. This is a suitable species for sowing as part of a meadow mix.
