Andrew Wexler: July 2015
http://www.globalalpine.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
July 13, 2015. Chamoinx Guiding and Climbing 2015. Eric 'Grand' Larson climbing exquisite granite on the Blatier. Being a true plaisir outing, we finished the day with enough time to freshen up and pump a few laps at the mighty Church crag by Vallorcine. In Canada, the Tete Rousse would be a 5 star hotel. In France, it is a mountain hut. KJ from Michigan trusting the rope on the Index. KJ and his Dad Todd sampling some of the finest stone in the Aiguille Rouge. Eric L on the Blatier. Blue jeans and all.

Andrew Wexler: Climbing The Ecuador Volcanoes
http://www.globalalpine.com/2013/05/climbing-ecuador-volcanoes.html
May 31, 2013. Climbing The Ecuador Volcanoes. Who also just published a skiing guidebook to Alaska called The Alaska Factor. Finally, here's a photo of mine that just appeared in The Avalanche Journal. This was remote triggered on surface hoar during the exciting 2009 / 2010 season. Although I did not receive payment for the double-page spread, I did receive notification that my yearly dues were due. Now that is a good business model! Climbing the Ecuador Volcanoes. Andrew Wexler: The Crash - Part 1
http://www.globalalpine.com/2013/03/the-crash-part-1.html
March 07, 2013. The Crash - Part 1. A flight from Lady Mac 2 days before the crash. My pelvis post surgery. The view from the helicopter during the initial recon. Photo courtesy Matt Mueller. Bound for Foothills Hospital in Calgary. My gratitude to everyone in the Canmore ER is immense. Before I say any more about Calgary, surgery, and the recovery, I'm going to backtrack and talk about the crash and what happened out there. Laying out on a beautiful, calm day just 48 hours prior to the crash. These acti...

the shultz gambit: April 2013

When its time to go, you go. Thursday, April 11, 2013. Shudder and Tremor Glaciers. I've been wanting to check out these glaciers for a couple of years, if you consider the Spearhead remote, then these would probably be the 'remotest' in the range. If not, well its just a really cool place to check out and guess what; you get to ski some of the longest runs in the area if you so choose. On the Pattison bootpack. Gaining the mini summit over looking the Shudder Glacier. Dreamy turns down the Shudder.

When its time to go, you go. Friday, May 02, 2014. Neve in a day or 'NIAD'. Had a great day with friends on the classic Garibaldi Neve Traverse. Took us approx 'a long time', we had trail breaking through most of the high country and some 'heat' in the alpine. Even had some whiteout downhill roped skiing through the gariblaldi ice fall. Great day! Thanks Jasmin and Scotty. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Neve in a day or NIAD. Picture Window template. Powered by Blogger.

When its time to go, you go. Wednesday, September 18, 2013. Alpine Horeshoe - Gentian/Helm Ridge Traverse. A right had turn up Helm Creek leaves the Chekamus Lake Trail and brings you Helm Meadows and later, the volcanic smorgasbord that is Black Tusk meadows. After Helm Campground at KM 9, we took a NE turn, off trail to gain the tow of Gentian Ridge where we gained the alpine, a place we would stay for the next two days as we walked around the ridges that connect Gentian with panorama ridge. Ski Tourin...

When its time to go, you go. Sunday, March 01, 2015. Spearhead with the rascalz. In a word, superb. Felix, Julian, Scotty, Chris Courtenay and yours truly. With this group we were poised for a great day out in the high alpine. Dropping down onto the Trorey Glacier. Lone wolf in the white room. Felix and the windlip. About to do the last big climb up around Fitz. Good times going down Whirlwind. Thanks to the boys for a great day out! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

When its time to go, you go. Thursday, March 19, 2015. On our second day, we were up for a longer day, namely a peak called The Galleon in the Babine Range - A classic tour in the Smithers area and highly recommended if you are into a nice tour to a beautiful valley and peak. The NW face of the Galleon holds many really nice couloirs. Some of the terrain leading up. Thanks Julian and Chris for a great trip, skiing and company. Sunday, March 01, 2015. Spearhead with the rascalz. In a word, superb.
the shultz gambit: Squeeze the Day - Duffey.
http://theshultzgambit.blogspot.com/2015/01/squeeze-day-duffey.html
When its time to go, you go. Thursday, January 22, 2015. Squeeze the Day - Duffey. Had a couple of great days recently with friends, leaving and returning to the house in the dark, smiling and stoked. If this is the mantra for 2015 so be it. We headed to a familiar zone the other day and spent some time on the N, NE aspects lapping the alpine above 1700m. Nice 200-350 m shots in well settled snow. Some nice windpress on the access ridge this day. Scoping out the options of entry into the main zone.
Alpine Justice: May 2015
http://alpinejustice.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Friday, 22 May 2015. It's been a whirlwind week. I flew to the US to shuttle my parents' car up to Toronto from the dismal state of Florida, where they spend their winters. Lots of signs in FLA, so many that it's a wonder breathing isn't regulated. But let's not forget that these signs contribute to the economy and as the former Governor Jeb Bush would tell you: "Freedom isn't Free". I first met Dean in Rio Blanco campground a few hours after he shot this photo. His 6 hour solo jihad. Lewis at the wheel ...

Mountains, friends and trees…. I feel a strong connection with trees and the wood they provide for us. Some time spent as a timberframe carpenter has led to a hobby of furniture making. February 04, 2017. Skiing the Aemmer Couloir on Mt. Temple in Sa-weeeet Conditions. The Aemmer Couloir was the first bit of steepish skiing that I did in the Rockies. It was probably in the spring of 2004 and Chris Brazeau and I did it in pretty firm conditions. Since then, I've always imagined what it would be like in more civilized nick (to quote the Brits). The Holy North Face of Mt. Temple. Sepp-u-lacra slashing past the daggers on Whymper. Gery U photo. The man himself near the top of Emerald Peak.
