Koh Samet – globetrottinggran

https://globetrottinggran.wordpress.com/2016/04/05/koh-samet

April 5, 2016. April 5, 2016. The final part of our epic trip is a relaxing week on Koh Samet, an island just 7 kilometres long. We had a 3 hour drive from Bangkok and then a 20 minute speedboat ride to the island. When we arrived the welcome was so warm we thought that we had been mistaken for royalty. The other side of the complex has the villas, pool and restaurant. This is our private terrace. The pool with beach beyond. I have just been traumatised by catching up with the Archers! See you all soon 😎.

Palm Cove and Uluru – globetrottinggran

March 28, 2016. March 28, 2016. Palm Cove and Uluru. After our trip to the Greta Barrier Reef we enjoyed 2 lazy days swimming, walking, reading and dozing round the pool. I finished the book I had barely started during the rest of the trip! We then had a couple of intensive days starting with a 5am pick up to take us to the airport for our flight to Uluru/ Ayers Rock. While we were at the airport I had a lovely birthday FaceTime with my son, daughter in law and all the grandchildren. 😌. Sylvia produced ...

Bangkok – globetrottinggran

https://globetrottinggran.wordpress.com/2016/04/04/bangkok/comment-page-1

April 4, 2016. April 4, 2016. A real culture shock! After being in Australia and New Zealand where it is different and there are references to the indigenous people everywhere but it still feels English really, we arrived in Bangkok to be greeted by our guide Tuncha who gave us the traditional “Wai” greeting and a handshake, as well as the trademark Thai smile. She insisted on helping us with one of the suitcases even though it is nearly as big as her. Our wandering led us a little astray and I was glad ...

Adelaide and the Murray River – globetrottinggran

https://globetrottinggran.wordpress.com/2016/03/14/adelaide-and-the-murray-river

March 14, 2016. March 14, 2016. Adelaide and the Murray River. On Saturday we decided to give our hosts the day off and go off to explore Adelaide on our own. We set off on the bus and went first to the Botanical gardens, which were lovely. It is the time of the annual fringe festival in Adelaide and all sorts of things are going on with all sorts of people wandering around. We launched their boat and Mike and Adrian took it up the river to their shack while Margaret and I drove the car round. It is a mu...

Noosa to Palm Cove – globetrottinggran

https://globetrottinggran.wordpress.com/2016/03/23/noosa-to-palm-cove

March 23, 2016. March 23, 2016. Noosa to Palm Cove. Having recovered from our Fraser Island experience we set about enjoying our final day in Noosa. Firstly Adrian and I went for an early morning swim on the beach. The indicator on the side of the Surf club building was showing 26 degrees at 6.45 am. The waves weren’t as lively as last time, but it was still fun. The walk hugs the coast so quite hard to get lost! Share this: spread the news🙂. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Juneathon day 22 – reassessing my goals | sophiebeeblogs

https://sophiebeeblogs.wordpress.com/2015/06/22/juneathon-day-22-reassessing-my-goals

June 22, 2015. Juneathon day 22 – reassessing my goals. I forgot to post my totals yesterday. Last week was poor on the running front, with just 14km logged. With all the other activity taken into account, the Juneathon totals so far are:. Running – 71km. Crazy dancing to 80s hits: 2hrs. Walking – 4km. Cross-training (bike) – 30mins. Missed days – 2. Today was a proper stretch session to help ease my slightly achy post-10k muscles, with a bit of core thrown in for good measure. Laquo; Previous post.

January | 2015 | sophiebeeblogs

https://sophiebeeblogs.wordpress.com/2015/01

January 31, 2015. Whoop whoop, well done everyone, happy days and congrats etc. I finished Janathon on a high note, with my longest run of the year so far – a long, slow 13.1 miles. It was only supposed to be 13 miles, but I couldn’t resist the extra bit to get to half marathon distance 🙂. I took it slowly and had a great run. Man alive, it was cold though! And that’s not the end of it! So, now it is time for the all important totals! Cross training: 4.5 hours. Once again, the real fun of Janathon has b...

Juneathon day 18 – weekday wedding | sophiebeeblogs

https://sophiebeeblogs.wordpress.com/2015/06/18/juneathon-day-18-weekday-wedding

June 18, 2015. Juneathon day 18 – weekday wedding. Is anyone still up? Today’s activity was far too much dodgy dancing to 80s tunes at a friend’s wedding. Yes, Thursday is a strange day to have a wedding. Lots of fun though! Runner. Baker. Eater. View all posts by sophiebeeblogs ». Laquo; Previous post. Next post ». Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Juneathon day 17 – Take one. Take two. Take three! | sophiebeeblogs

https://sophiebeeblogs.wordpress.com/2015/06/17/juneathon-day-17-take-one-take-two-take-three

June 17, 2015. Juneathon day 17 – Take one. Take two. Take three! Well I was supposed to go for an interval run this morning and was all dressed and ready to go. Unfortunately my tummy had different plans and I had to abandon the run, knowing I wouldn’t have got very far without things going very bad indeed. Oh well. I got my walk in the end though, taking advantage of the beautiful afternoon to walk from my office to London Bridge. Phew I think that counts! Runner. Baker. Eater. Laquo; Previous post.

April | 2015 | sophiebeeblogs

April 27, 2015. I only went and ran the London Marathon! So that’s it then! Five months of training, dragging myself out for long slogs in all weather, amazing myself at being able to achieve distances I never thought possible, all culminating in a huge carnival of noise, sweat and pain! It certainly didn’t go quite to plan though. Ready for the off! As I turned into The Mall I could hear the announcer encouraging us to finish hand-in-hand with another runner to mark the 35th anniversary. Someone run...

Juneathon day 16 – running with my sis | sophiebeeblogs

https://sophiebeeblogs.wordpress.com/2015/06/16/juneathon-day-16

June 16, 2015. Juneathon day 16 – running with my sis. Thankfully I had a much better night’s sleep last night, which was just as well because I had a rare appointment to run with my sister this morning. I think she enjoyed it! She didn’t hate it anyway, which is good. I must admit it made a lovely change to have some company. It was a nice chatty run, quite slow as a result, but really enjoyable. We couldn’t not talk about last night’s Game of Thrones after all! Today’s run: 4km in 30mins. Grundy Runs -...

March 29, 2015. Weather woes, creepy blokes and never using the elliptical again! Four weeks to go! Blimey, that’s getting a bit close now…. Anyway, on with the blog. This week has been a bit up and down really. I had a slightly dodgy tummy on Monday morning so decided to try doing my 5 miles on the elliptical at home rather than risk going out and getting caught short! I’m not sure what response he was expecting, but I imagine my very sweary one was not what he was hoping for…. March 22, 2015. Niggles&#...

June 14, 2015. Juneathon day 14 – indecision, procrastination, and cross training. This morning there was much faffing as I tried to decide what to do. My initial plan was to repeat last Sunday, with a jog down to the park and using the gym machines, but my legs were feeling a bit heavy after yesterday’s long run and I wasn’t really sure I could be bothered with that. June 13, 2015. Juneathon day 13 – hello Thames Path my old friend. A good morning’s work! June 12, 2015. Juneathon days 11 and 12 – ...

December | 2014 | sophiebeeblogs

https://sophiebeeblogs.wordpress.com/2014/12

December 29, 2014. I am better at running than blogging (just)…. Sorry, sorry – I know I’ve been very quiet for a few weeks. I’ve got no excuse – yes it’s been quite busy, but really it’s mainly laziness. New Year’s resolution number one will be to be a better blogger. Note how I’m not putting any numbers on this though – let’s be realistic 😉. So How to kick start these resolutions and make sure I don’t slip again? Well, there can be only one solution – it’s Janathon time! See you on 1 January! Juneatho...
