A blog about physics at The Tatnall School in Wilmington DE - student work, demonstrations, lesson ideas, and reflections on standards-based grading. Thursday, July 2, 2015. Atomic Lattices and Glowscript. I'm finishing up (read: procrastinating finishing up) a final paper in a material science course that I'm taking this summer. The paper is about cuprous oxide ($Cu 2O$) and its possible use in a homemade diode. That process is outlined here. HP Friedrichs's homemade diode and holder. 5,5,5), where a.

Physics LOGOS (λόγος, from λέγω lego "I say"). Words, thoughts, and ideas about teaching physics at High Point University. Thursday, April 23, 2015. VPython, Anaconda, and iVisual. Since 2003, we have taught physics students in our introductory, calculus-based physics course to use VPython. There are now at least five methods you can use to install and run VPython or code similar to VPython code. Because we can now run VPython code (or code similar to it) in an iPython Notebook or in JavaScript, we s...

Reflections on the dynamics of teaching. Physics Applets and Animations. Day 26: What Causes Gravity? Day 65: Hour of Physics Code. Today’s 180 blog post may be of interest to Action-Reaction readers. I’ve been coding with my AP Physics classes for years. But in honor of this week’s Hour of Code. I tried VPython programming for the first time with my College-Prep class. We used the GlowScript. Version of VPython, which can now run regular VPython code inside a browser. Nothing to install! Saturday, October 19, 2013. Inventory of Physics Simulations in HTML5/JavaScript. When I discovered last winter. How useful JavaScript and the HTML5 canvas element can be for physics simulations, I was astonished that there seemed to be so few examples of such simulations out there. That situation is rapidly changing. Here’s an inventory of the examples I’m aware of at this time. Of three simulations is unchanged, except for a few bells and whistles added to each of them:. Distribution of speeds in a gas.
