Gluten Free Demanda: December 2008
http://glutenfreedemanda.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Demanding great food. . . with no gluten in sight. Wednesday, December 31, 2008. New Year's Eve holds a special spot in my heart - 16 years ago this evening I was coping with horrible labor pains and nurses who really did not want to be working on New Year's Eve. Really not. But the end result was a screeching and scrawny and beautiful baby boy.who is turning 16 today! What am I thinking you ask. Momentary insanity? Twenty 16 year old boys and girls at my. On New Year's Eve? 8 gluten free waffles, toasted.
Gluten Free Demanda: C'mon Spring!
http://glutenfreedemanda.blogspot.com/2011/03/cmon-spring.html
Demanding great food. . . with no gluten in sight. Saturday, March 26, 2011. There was ice on my little pond this morning. ICE! It's March 26th for goodness sake. I want sunshine. Green plants! Flip-flops, not boots! I want my pond to look like the picture above, not a tiny ice-skating rink. But Barista is home for "spring" break, so we've had fun, despite the dreary and oh-so-cold Ohio weather. She is deciding between two (yeah! Cream cheese (may be light), cut into 18 (1/2 by 1/4-inch) pieces. Bake 5 m...

Demanding great food. . . with no gluten in sight. Thursday, July 21, 2011. Hot Hot Hot.and Cool Curried Chicken Salad. Oh, I love summer-time, and we had a fabulous week at the lake cottage in northern Michigan two weeks ago (below). Blue-sky days, bright sunshine, crystal clear lakes and temps in the high '70s. Add to that, my two (nearly grown) kids and about 25 extended family members (see all the kids second pic below), and you've got a week to remember! And he is all scheduled for fall classes....
Gluten Free Demanda: August 2010
http://glutenfreedemanda.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Demanding great food. . . with no gluten in sight. Sunday, August 22, 2010. Late Summer in the Garden and Peach Tart. And I'm suddenly seeing signs of a changing season everywhere. The sweet corn is not quite so good. Fields of corn and soybeans are slowly turning yellow. My morning glories are this. But last night Barista and Chip and I celebrated the end of summer with two fabulous things - summer pasta (see previous post for recipe) which I made with some amazing yellow heirloom tomatoes (soooo good!

Ive been more than a bit remiss about posting as of late, and a large part of that centers on todays topic. This has and continues. So you just keep breathing? Not really a food post. I tend to be a pretty private person. That may sound a bit odd, since I openly write about bodily functions, food restrictions, and my yucky. My newest food love: Beeler's bacon ends.
aseafish out of water: whole30 afterthoughts
http://aseafish.blogspot.com/2011/11/whole30-thoughts.html
Saturday, November 26, 2011. They said it would change my life; who knew they meant it? I finished my first Whole30 on November 6 of this year. I experienced no cravings, though that may be a result of making relatively few changes in my diet, and really only mild bathroom scale withdrawal, though if you've read my posts, it may sound more than mild. Sure it has changed my life. Thanks again, Whole9, I'm seriously impressed. November 26, 2011 at 12:59 PM. November 26, 2011 at 2:21 PM. Melissa and Dallas,.
aseafish out of water: February 2013
http://aseafish.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 23, 2013. Of crock pots and childhood. I've been enjoying my crock pots a lot lately. Possibly the best part for me is having hot, moist, long-cooking sorts of meals that take only minutes of my attention. A few tomatoes in a large pot of food can add the flavor without so much tomato. It's virtually foolproof and not time-sensitive. It can cook 6 hours or 10 without issue. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). aseafish out of water: October 2013
http://aseafish.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 14, 2013. An accidental book review. I am such a creature of habit. I didn't know that about myself until fairly recently, though, I'm sure my friends and family were well aware. Yesterday, I bought a new cookbook, Quick and Easy Paleo Comfort Foods,. By Julie and Charles Mayfield. I had almost ordered it half a dozen times on Amazon. I think at least once I even ordered it and then cancelled the order two minutes later. Yeah, that's another dumb habit I'm not so proud of. Many, if not mo...
aseafish out of water: getting back to living
http://aseafish.blogspot.com/2014/02/getting-back-to-living.html
Saturday, February 8, 2014. Getting back to living. One week ago today, we boarded the Sapphire Princess in San Pedro Harbor and began a 7-day cruise. Today, we get off this ship and face life again. I'm feeling more each day that it's a true possibility. That is a shift I hadn't seen coming but welcome with open arms. We literally went to one show onboard, avoided most activities, took lots of naps, and soaked up the sun in short bursts. No sun burns, no hangovers, no vacation exhaustion. This morning I...
aseafish out of water: an (almost) paleo birthday party
http://aseafish.blogspot.com/2012/03/almost-paleo-birthday-party.html
Wednesday, March 14, 2012. An (almost) paleo birthday party. When I decided to start the Whole30 on March 1, it was partially because March would be an easy shot. I saw nothing ahead that would throw a wrench into the works. In the past, too, I've loved to simmer corned beef and cabbage in Guinness and make black and tans for St. Patrick's Day. That's not happening anymore for lots of health-related reasons. No conflict there. Not Paleo, the only exception in fact, but too darned cute. Also from Well Fed.
aseafish out of water: July 2013

Thursday, July 4, 2013. Steaks on the egg. I'm looking forward to grilling steaks this afternoon, assuming these crazy temperatures and high humidity don't force me inside. This week was a link some of the best steak advice I've seen in awhile, dispelling some deeply ingrained myths. If you are cooking steaks for the Fourth of July, or anytime soon, don't start your grill before you read these great tips for cooking steaks from Serious Eats. Labels: Big Green Egg. Dispelling those pesky myths. Given my u...
aseafish out of water: so you just keep breathing? not really a food post
http://aseafish.blogspot.com/2013/12/so-you-just-keep-breathing-not-really.html
Wednesday, December 4, 2013. So you just keep breathing? Not really a food post. I'm the oldest of five children, three girls, two boys. We've always been pretty close and still celebrate every holiday together. Our mother is 93 (don't tell her I told her age) and still the cement that holds us together, I believe. She's witty and cranky and, well, pretty much exactly what you'd expect from the woman who raised all of us. I will miss you everyday, Bev. December 4, 2013 at 8:35 AM. One day i was really be...
aseafish out of water: are you serious?
http://aseafish.blogspot.com/2013/11/are-you-serious.html
Wednesday, November 13, 2013. I thought my diet was already pretty restricted, what with no gluten- -no grains at all, really, no dairy, no legumes, no FODMAPS, few nightshades, almost nothing processed in any way, certainly nothing artificial or "food-like." I really thought there was nothing much left to remove. What can I say? She must have forgotten I've already removed most offending foods. We're just fine-tuning. There's not much left to change or remove. Again, I was wrong. 3 You're joking, right?
aseafish out of water: if only I could take all the credit for my marinated mushrooms
http://aseafish.blogspot.com/2011/08/if-only-i-could-take-all-credit-for-my.html
Friday, August 5, 2011. If only I could take all the credit for my marinated mushrooms. It's funny how individual food history develops. Sometimes recipes are passed down through generations, sometimes it's a silly playful interpretation like peanut butter poop, sometimes a dish just kind of attaches itself to us and becomes our signature. I think I may have memorized half the recipes and all the stories in the book. I loved it. Kristen's reception had lots of fun foods, many from Entertaining. Clean mus...

A resource (and commentary) for gluten free Denver. Monday, July 9, 2012. I don't have a place here. I have been spending a lot of time lately thinking about my place in the world. Gluten Free Derby Girl | Eating for a Gluten Free Diet and Playing Roller Derby
Gluten Free Derby Girl. Eating for a Gluten Free Diet and Playing Roller Derby. Getting back on track 1 – Food Diary. October 30, 2013. Last night I didn’t make it to the gym as my knee is still too bad. It’s giving way far too much so I think I need to let it settle a little more before I start a new vigorous exercise regime! The diary itself is simple and kept on Google Docs, so I can access it wherever I have internet access. This is what I ate yesterday:. Time out of bed: 7am. As a whole day I don...
