This goes well with rice preferably Lemon rice. 3 Medium sized Potatoes (cubed). 1/2 of Medium sized Onion(optional). 1/2 Tsp Turmeric or Haldi. 1tsp Thick Tamarind paste or 2tbsp Tamrind Juice(soak tamarind in water for 20min and squeeze it). 1tsp Salt or more as per your taste. 1/2 to 1 cup water. 1 tsp Urad dal. 3-4 Tsp Redpepper Flakes or dry redchillies. Dry Roast,cool,Powder and set aside. One of my husbands favorite recipes(mine too). 3 Cups Basmati or Regular rice.

Sunday, March 23, 2008. Does the name sound fancy? This is nothing but Sooji Halwa. It looks and sounds fancy but it is so easy and I promise you will enjoy making and eating this. 1 and 1/2 Cups whole milk. 1 Cup whipping cream(Whip it to soft peaks). 1/4th cup or more Sugar (as per your taste). 1 and 1/2 tsp Unflavored Gelatin. 2tbsp Room Temparature water(for dissolving gelatin). 1/4th cup semolina or sooji. 1)Dissolve Gleatin in Water and set aside . 2)Whip up the cream to soft peaks and set aside.

This is my mom's recipe. 1/2 an Onion chopped. 1/2" Piece of Dalchini(Cinnamon). 1 Garlic pod (minced). 3 Large tomatoes chopped. 1 Small Potato diced. 1and 1/2 cups of water. Salt and Pepper as per taste. 1tbsp of tomato ketchup or tomato paste(for adding color to the soup)This is optional. 1) Heat the oil in a pressure pan.Add laung and dalchini to it.once you start to smell them add in onions and finely minced garlic and sauté it till soft. Wednesday, March 26, 2008. One of my husbands favorite recipes(mine too). 3 Cups Basmati or Regular rice. 5 Cups water(for cooking the rice). 2-3 Lemons (depending on how sour they are). Salt as per taste. For the Powder :. 1 Tbsp Dhaniya(coriander seeds). 3-4 Tbsp Redpepper Flakes(optional). Dry fry all these ingredients,cool,powder and set aside. 5-6 Green chillies sliced thin. 1Tbsp or more peanuts. 1 sprig curry leaves. 1)Cook the rice and set aside. This is best served with Potato Curry.

My Mother used to make this when we were kids.I was plesantly surprised when one of my friends made it for us here in USA.This brought back lots of memories.This recipe here is my mothers version with few modifications. 2 Cups cooked rice. 1 Tbsp Pulihogare mix(MTR.this is my addition.I like the tang it gives the rice). Monday, February 11, 2008. This is the most easiest south indian snack one can ever make. 1 and 1/2 cups Urad dal(whole or split) Soaked overnight or for 6-8hrs minimum. Jeera or cumin seeds. Curry leaves (Julienne.fancy word for thinly cut). 5-6 Green Chillies minced. Salt as per taste. 1)Grind the Urad dal into a thick dough adding as little water as possible.It should be thick enough to make soft balls out of it. 5) Fry till golden brown and serve hot with ginger chutney,coconut chutney and sambar.
