2008年10月25日, 我回國的一個禮拜前, 在周參的安排下, 終於可以親眼看到世界的第一道曙光, 差點就要帶著遺憾回國了. 當然, 也要感謝兩位大愛台的記者-珮霖 and 和祥-光臨吉里巴斯, 才有這個看日出的計畫. 看日出的前一天, 我們走水邊走邊玩到達Bekitawa, 在那裡的Otintaai Hotel分部住了一個晚上, 那個地方從台大地理團來的時候就計畫要去的, 這次終於如願以償去了那裡, 並在KiaKia睡了一個晚上. 隔夜清晨我們就起床準備要去看日出了，這裡要看海面升起的太陽也沒那麼簡單，從我們睡的那個島上還要走二三十分鐘才能擺脫檔在前面的另一個島。 大地初醒，天快亮，我正在涉水過河，要擺脫眼前的這片林我們才有辦法看到太陽從水面上升起). 找到適當位置後, 記者們就開始架設機器準備捕捉珍貴的一刻.當記者也蠻辛苦的啦). 因為吉里巴斯位於國際換日線上, 是全世界時間最早的國家, 而這裡又是塔拉瓦最面向東邊的一隅, 所以我們才稱它做世界的第一道曙光. 很珍貴的記憶，我後面是大使館的周參事，沒有他今天無法成行。再旁邊是美國和平工作團主任Mike). 志工王念蓉已經走到快要掛掉了，...
