Bird Stories: My Backyard Birds
http://birdfancy.blogspot.com/2012/05/my-backyard-birds_29.html
Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Each year I find more birds frequenting my place. Maybe it is because of all the trees I have planted or because there is a plentiful fresh water source. For some it is because they like to rob the chicken feed. Maybe it is because it is a safe place with a large variety of nesting sites.Whatever the reason it is fun to have them here. Which is also where I got the pictures for this post. I think they can read my mind because as soon as I decide I am going to pick the cherries they...

FARM FANCY: July 2007
http://farmfancy.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
For those who fancy farm living. Thursday, July 12, 2007. A Little Insight . thanks Tiff :). An old man, a boy and a donkey were going to town. The boy rode on the donkey and the old man walked. As they went along they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking and the boy was riding. The man and boy thought maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions. As they crossed the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal and he fell into the river and drowned.

FARM FANCY: July 2009
http://farmfancy.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
For those who fancy farm living. Sunday, July 19, 2009. Weeds a constant battle. The pasture grass is rapidly being overrun. I am sure I am not the only person to ever think of this but it seems to me like some smart botanist could think of a way to cross some of the hearty varieties of weed with some type of desired crop rendering the desired crop drought resistant, able to grow in poor soil, and prolific, eh? I had tried spraying and that didn't work so how did I do it? I hand pulled every Goathead.

FARM FANCY: Still Alive (and now fairly well)
http://farmfancy.blogspot.com/2012/04/still-alive-and-now-fairly-well.html
For those who fancy farm living. Friday, April 20, 2012. Still Alive (and now fairly well). So much has happened since my last blog post. Maybe someday I will write about it but not today. Today I am just going to reflect on the big changes at Almosta Farm. So that is the state of affairs at Almosta Farm. While I miss my horses I have horses on both sides of me. Ross has 5 or 6 horses and Drew has a mule and several horses so I still get some horsey contact. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

ALMOSTA FARM
http://almostafarm.blogspot.com/2010/04/almosta-farm-has-become-almosta-ghost.html
Almost the farm I have always wanted. Saturday, April 10, 2010. Farm has become Almosta. I joke about this (a little) but the other day I woke from a nap to a spring wind storm. Without thinking I jumped to my feet with a feeling of frenzy aiming to go secure the animals. oh wait. there are no animals! Once I remembered this I settled down and meandered over to the window. ALMOSTA FARM: Oct 2, 2005
http://almostafarm.blogspot.com/2005_10_02_archive.html
Almost the farm I have always wanted. Sunday, October 2, 2005. Summer Falls by the Wayside. There is a cool, crisp chill in the mornings now. Crops are being harvested. Soon we will find a drenching rain greeting us daily. I better get busy and get my loafing shed finished and my hay put up and my trees planted and my garden beds weeded and over seed the bare patches in my lawn . . . before it is too late! FARM FANCY: September 2005
http://farmfancy.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html
For those who fancy farm living. Sunday, September 18, 2005. AhhALASKA . ( but watch out! Sasha and a girl friend had taken the dogs for a hike yesterday. After a nice hike they headed back to the Jeep. When they got with in about 100 feet of the vehicle they noticed something about the same distance away on the other side. There, in all its glory, stood a great, brown, grizzly bear. Can we keep the dogs from trying to chase that bear? Will the jeep out run that bear? Relief and hysterical, nervous laugh...

FARM FANCY: November 2005
http://farmfancy.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
For those who fancy farm living. Monday, November 07, 2005. Funny Thing About Cats and Chickens. When David commented about Mel and the chickens getting along it reminded me of a story Alan recently told me. Alan and Ani have been adopted by a stray cat. They call him Mel. Mel is a young, but large, yellow cat. (Herman and Mel pictured to the left). Chickens and Mel pictured above). Alan got a big kick out of it and from what I gather the new found friendship between cat and chickens continues. I know my...
