Well I am sitting here in the Amsterdam airport trying to spend 10 hours of a stopover doing something (city tour maybe? I am a little in shock at how fast "High Speed Internet" really is. This women looks at me and says "You think I can just stamp this thing and you can go? It is s...

For those of you who aren't quite up to speed on what I am doing I will give a little synopsis:. In the Fall I decided that going into regular veterinary medicine just wasn't for me at this point. I wan. So, Meflo...

NEW Tales from the African Goat Vet. Friday, October 8, 2010. Kids continue to make my life here such a joy. If they aren’t terrified of you they absolutely adore you. As always some seem to weasel their way into my hearts a little more than others. So I present you with this edition of "Kids". He screamed bloody murder for a good 5 minutes. Apparently they’re fun to play with but a little too scary to put on a foot! Davis taking tea and stealing some of my Mandazzi. 8221;, “This is a what? I stumbled ac...

NEW Tales from the African Goat Vet. Friday, February 29, 2008. Well I have been here for one month as of yesterday! I know they say that "Time Flies" but until "Time has Flown" you don't realise that "Time Flies"! He told me that his Uncle is a cattle farmer and that he loves spending time there and has always been into science (which I already knew). Charles and I.as hard as I try I can rarely get Ugandans to smile in pictures. Links to this post. Tuesday, February 26, 2008. They get down on their knee...

Newer posts →. April 30, 2010 · 5:52 pm. Well it is round two for Gordon Global adventures and I cant believe how quickly the time has passed. When this blog was started I thought it could be used as a way of relaying all the work on the fellowship not just the exotic travel. Unfortunately, life has a way of interfering and the month and a half since Uganda has been filled with other matters. Stay away from the chicken. Majority of its citizens to be of indigenous ancestry Ecuador is the other. The Boliv...

May 19, 2010 · 6:02 pm. Back in La Paz. After a couple of days in Tarabuco, I am back in the capital city. I was starting to worry that the trip would not be worth as much as I had hoped. The language barrier was a larger issue than I had. Marcial Vela, Alcalde of Tarabuco on his last morning in office. A couple of themes emerged from the meetings. Election murals still up from last month. The local authorities believed that through autonomy they would be able to preserve their culture more effectively t...

First day on the ground →. May 4, 2010 · 4:12 pm. Made it to La Paz. I made it to La Paz at 5:45 yesterday morning, after nearly 24 hours in transit. Nothing noteworthy regarding the flights, although I did meet a young Bolivian guy, Alan, on the plane from Miami who gave me the run down on Bolivian politics from a anti-MAS-Evo perspective. La Paz from downtown. La Paz from the city centre. First day on the ground →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

Made it to La Paz. May 4, 2010 · 10:47 pm. First day on the ground. Today was the first official day of work in Bolivia. Emilie and I met with officials from CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency) and the Unidad de Apoyo de Servicios de la Cooperacion Canadiense (UASCC). A couple of the more interesting things I took away from the meeting, where the scale of change going on in the country and the over arching philosophy of the current government. The devil really is in the details here. Jess: S...

A few pictures from the Salar de Uyuni. Back in La Paz →. May 14, 2010 · 4:37 pm. The warrior is holding a horn in one hand and the heart of the spanish soldier in the other. The look on the warriors face (not to mention the blood) says it all. This is a town with a very fierce history opposition to colonization. Later in the day we met with Katia Zamora, a law professor at the la Universidad Mayor de San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca in Sucre who is managing a project. Back in La Paz →. You are comment...

First day on the ground. Bolivian Nanaimo Bars →. May 7, 2010 · 9:42 pm. After several days of altitude sickness I thought it would be a good idea to get to a lower altitude and headed to Sucre, where Brendan, another one of the Gordon Fellows is living. Sucre is a pretty idylic city of about the size of Saskatoon. It is the constitutional capital of the country but all the major work of the government takes place in La Paz. My blurry photo of a map provided to me by the Ministrio de Autonomia. You are c...

NEW Tales from the African Goat Vet. Tuesday, October 12, 2010. For those of reading who have been here and met some of these people, I thought you might like an update on some of our (or at least my) favourite women. Overall most are doing really well, of course some have still refused to build pens, deworm, or zero graze but those who were excelling continue to excel. She told me she wanted you all to know that she is tired, and was trying to look it here. Posing with a cabbage and her new Canada visor.
