One of the neat things that is done here, in addition to the traditional float, is the the floating of lanterns that fly up into the air. Here is a slide show of photos I shot in Kaili, Guizhou during a rehersal for a performance for some visiting VIPs back in November of 2005. (You'll see the Miao and Dong people represented in these photos). Kaili is in the eastern part of Guizhou province and is a gateway city to minority villages in the area.
