A Waterman's Woods: January 2015
http://awatermanswoods.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 30, 2015. Time slips by slowly. Under rain soaked roofs. Resting sullen in Mad River bottomlands. Gray haze of ocean and air. And green hills rolling under redwood stands. Our slickers shed the deluge from above. Relentless and determined to soak the bones. Only with grace shall we survive the rising waters. Of life lived between oblivion and these changing tides. Mountains can be seen building beyond the hills. Hills cut deep and wide from eons ago. We roam the ridges. Either way, it's t...

A Waterman's Woods: February 2015
http://awatermanswoods.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 23, 2015. The sun rises over the crest of the Sierras. Between Jordan Mountain and his mate. Where he has more gravity this time of year. To draw and pull the body towards him. Illuminating her south facing slopes first and foremost. Lifting her to grace the day before him. As the valley between them rejoices in the glory. Of the morning rays flooding the treetops. Two green isles on either side. Rising to meet the day as one. The gurgling brook between them calls the dance. By the time ...

A Waterman's Woods: The Sierra Monsoon
http://awatermanswoods.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-sierra-monsoon.html
Thursday, June 13, 2013. Crackling grasses outside the shade of the live oaks. Not with flame, but you can hear it sizzle in the hot breeze. Already dry, but now moving towards the dust under foot. Standing upright, but drooping when pushed. Parched fibers bursting the heart within. Quickly waiting with anticipation but only to fall short. Just cooking in the hot breath as the summer days roll on. Eventually to give in and lay over. The lucky ones get to send off their young to jab through fur and socks.

A Waterman's Woods: Wife's First Backpacking Trip
http://awatermanswoods.blogspot.com/2015/08/wifes-first-backpacking-trip.html
Friday, August 7, 2015. Wife's First Backpacking Trip. I think going with friends helped in all having a good time. On the way in, the ladies showed great skill and determination to show off their highly tuned bush skills in sarcasm and wit as the two of them plotted our deaths for "making" them do this Gotta keep your wits up if you're going to make it ya know. Luckily I am still alive to tell the tale. Available in HD 720. August 10, 2015 at 6:24 AM. This comment has been removed by the author. TO BEGI...

A Waterman's Woods: Buddhas and Beats on the Hillside
http://awatermanswoods.blogspot.com/2015/07/buddhas-and-beats-on-hillside.html
Sunday, July 19, 2015. Buddhas and Beats on the Hillside. Content upon his place of rest. In the garden of the golden eternal. Sun heating the grasses through in waves. Across the quieted clearings. Long ago he came to this spot. Found the exposure to suit his temperament. Built a home for a seed to grow,. So that he could have shade from summer's fury. One hand with upturned palm. Holding soil and oak seedlings. Three spirits condensed in rock and earth and tree. Solid, sifted through, and alive. Video ...

A Waterman's Woods: March 2015
http://awatermanswoods.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 20, 2015. An Endurance of Equinoxes. Fast asleep from the lack there of. Instantly dreaming of driving through a northern woods. Under a bridge quickly to a steep climb. Too steep as the engine slugs to a crawl. Body and foot lean forward on wheel and pedal. As if to tilt the balance upward. Engine slowing and then a voice. Say something as to awaken. Hear my dream and tell me of the same. Simultaneous thoughts of your father. On freshly fixed bike engine that fails. Tuesday, March 10, 2015.

A Waterman's Woods: July 2014
http://awatermanswoods.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 30, 2014. A Confluence of Waters. Heat runs rampant across the hillsides. Low and fast with reckless abandon. As Stamey strums along free and easy. To the roses on the roadside. Reminding us of better times. When the rains drenched our skins. Breathing effervescence through our pores. And suffusing through everything. Like a confluence of waters. But back in the here and now. Where whirlwind rattles the fallen leaves. Of the live oaks along the sides of our path. 2013 and 2014 look simila...
