not so simple: Happy Birthday, Husband.
http://ellisanotsosimple.blogspot.com/2009/07/happy-birthday-husband.html
No one told me it would be like this. Wednesday, July 1. Happy Birthday, Husband. Today, my loving husband turns 30 years old. While I would love to turn this into a big post about how he's older than me, I'll be 30 in 6 weeks, so I can't really say much. He's an amazingly compassionate man. He's a good listener (most of the time). He is a wonderful father. He's a loving husband. He's a dedicated employee. He's mine. All mine! Matt, thank you for all your love. Not so deep thoughts by. Today, my loving h...

No one told me it would be like this. Tuesday, November 22. 25 Days of Christmas - Advent Activities. After some Googling, researching, brainstorming and help from friends, I have compiled our list of advent activities. We hung our advent stockings last weekend and the boys are very excited for next week when we get started on the events. The activities are things the boys will enjoy, but most focus on giving. In no particular order. Lighting of the Christmas Tree at the library. Christmas performance fo...

No one told me it would be like this. Saturday, June 16. This year, I finally determined the perfect place for a vegetable garden! Matt built a raised bed for me and I had quite a bit planted before the middle of May! Not so deep thoughts by. Links to this post. School's Out for Summer! Another fantastic school year has come to an end. We are so proud of all of our accomplishments this year. He's really excited about the summer reading program at the library so he can become a better reader. Payton finis...

http://ellisanotsosimple.blogspot.com/2012/04/maxwell-on-when-jesus-comes.html
No one told me it would be like this. Monday, April 30. Maxwell on "When Jesus Comes". Another unique view of the world from Maxwell. When Jesus comes back from heaven, I think we should go to the beach. We can jump waves with Jesus.". Not so deep thoughts by. I loved this when I came across it. I work with youth at my church and this was such a beautiful thought for a kid to have about when Jesus comes! Thank you for sharing it! May 8, 2012 at 11:34 PM. May 12, 2012 at 1:31 AM. No one told me it would be like this. Monday, March 19. Once again, my kids turn another year old. Max in January and Payton in April; but March is a much better time to celebrate! Plus it's easier to squish them together for one party. This year the boys chose a Star Wars theme. It was great! I also made this R2D2 cake out of three 9x13 pans and one 9" round. The boys LOVED their R2D2! Best part of the party! We also had a Darth Vader pinata that was perfect for the kids! Such a great party! Maxwell on ...

No one told me it would be like this. Saturday, June 16. School's Out for Summer! Another fantastic school year has come to an end. We are so proud of all of our accomplishments this year. Maxwell has been homeschooled by Matt and our "babysitter", Ms. Liz. He is able to identify all his uppercase and lowercase letters, knows their sounds, and can write most of them from memory (still working on a few lowercase letters). He is also reading most 3-4 letter words! He couldn't stop smiling! Tattoo: What doe...

No one told me it would be like this. Friday, October 21. Although we planned it, knew it would be emotional and such a wonderful experience, nothing could prepare us for the moment our boys actually saw their father for the first time.in a very surprising way. We left Payton's school to get Max who was at his daycare/homeschooling teacher's house. Payton was so excited to see Max's reaction, but was also very understanding that he needed to let Max have a few minutes with Daddy just like he got. That ni...

not so simple: Raising Little Helpers: Teaching them to do it
http://ellisanotsosimple.blogspot.com/2013/02/raising-little-helpers-teaching-them-to.html
No one told me it would be like this. Sunday, February 24. Raising Little Helpers: Teaching them to do it. It's no secret that I have high expectations for my kids. Realistic, but high. I expect that my children help with household chores and responsibilities on a daily basis. With my husband deployed, my boys really are helping a lot. They've taken up some of the chores that my husband usually does. But they always have and always will help around our home. But how do I get them to do it "right"? Like m...

not so simple: Tattoo: What does it mean?
http://ellisanotsosimple.blogspot.com/2011/07/tattoo-what-does-it-mean.html
No one told me it would be like this. Tuesday, July 26. Tattoo: What does it mean? Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her:. To some it might seem like I'm claiming that this is what my children and husband do; bless me and praise me. And while I don't feel I have. To explain myself and my new tattoo to anyone, I want. To share the meaning behind it. Here it goes; my confession. I know this might be difficult to believe, but I haven't always been the (rarely). I needed to change. I ...
