The working group coordinated by Chamard and Associés concluded that the lack of scientific information about the ecology of Ring-billed gulls precluded drafting of a management plan. Researchers from UQAM and other Quebec universities then proposed to design a research project to study the behavior of Ring-billed Gulls in urban and suburban areas within an integrated management framework. October 3 and 7th found AAF at Beacon St. Dam in Glace Bay, NS. January 22nd AAF was spotted at Beacon, NY, on the shores of the Hudson River. These places are about 1250 km (770 miles) apart. Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Banded Ring-billed Gulls B1XK and BMJM. Last night, I reported two banded Ring-billed Gulls. To the banding station in Quebec Canada. Where there is an ongoing research program on the ecology of Ring-billed Gulls. Both birds were documented on Sunday 2-15-15, while studying gulls in Brooklyn and Queens NY. This morning, I received word from Professor Jean - Francois Giroux who sent me information about both birds, which were both banded in Quebec, Canada. My sighting of B1XK.

Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Yellow-throated Warbler at Valley Stream State Park. Score one for Nassau County and for Valley Stream State Park. As one of the sought after warbler of the migration season was found there. Photos of a Yellow-throated Warbler. Were apparently posted to Facebook on 3-30 and our very own Big Year Dude. In 2009, a group of researchers initiated a study on the ecology of this species in the Montreal area to understand. Their feeding behaviour, movements during the breeding and post-breeding periods, their exposure to contaminants, and their population dynamics. The research is still on-going and the results.
