Lloyd's Fly Fishing Diary: January 2013

http://gograyling.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Lloyd's Fly Fishing Diary. My diary of fishing rivers and still waters. Sunday, 6 January 2013. River Hodder - January 5th. First river trip of the year and Phil and I arrived and were both itching to cast a fly line on running water, no thanks to the crappy Christmas weather/ river conditions. The Grayling took some time to find but we got there in the end! Czech nyphing was the order of the day and by the end of session I had learnt al lot, (most of which I had probably forgot from last year!

Lloyd's Fly Fishing Diary: North East Cumbria's rivers revisited

http://gograyling.blogspot.com/2011/08/north-east-cumbrias-rivers-revisited.html

Lloyd's Fly Fishing Diary. My diary of fishing rivers and still waters. Friday, 19 August 2011. North East Cumbria's rivers revisited. It was a planed weekend to fish the rivers near Penrith that I had been looking forward to for weeks. Unfortunately the weather had been unkind for days and we had been nervously watching the river levels all week. Despite this the Eden was still very low up until the morning we arrived! A very low River Eamont. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Lloyd's Fly Fishing Diary: Wet and Windy Raygill

http://gograyling.blogspot.com/2011/10/wet-and-windy-raygill.html

Lloyd's Fly Fishing Diary. My diary of fishing rivers and still waters. Sunday, 9 October 2011. Wet and Windy Raygill. My only fish of the day! There are a couple of boats for hire, but it was definitely a no go today. Go on Mike you can do it! Best fish of the day from Dave at 3.5lb. And I was reliably informed that it fought its fins off. The fly you need to catch a 3.5lb Raygill fighter. When the weather got too much, we entertained ourselves by feeding these beauts with trout pellets at 20p a shot.

Lloyd's Fly Fishing Diary: June 2011

http://gograyling.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Lloyd's Fly Fishing Diary. My diary of fishing rivers and still waters. Monday, 20 June 2011. I attended the International Fly Fair at Stafford over the weekend and picked up a few tips, and parted with a few pounds! 1 lb brownie taken on a 14 hares ear nymph. Monday, 13 June 2011. A slightly damp River Ribble! Members, or rather three of us dedicated souls fished the River Ribble at Mitton on Sunday, (I think the fair weather fishermen were kept away by a bit of precipitation)! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Lloyd's Fly Fishing Diary: April 2011

http://gograyling.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Lloyd's Fly Fishing Diary. My diary of fishing rivers and still waters. Tuesday, 26 April 2011. My best and only Grayling for the day. The fish seemed to be taking Aphids but we struggled to replicate them with our flies. The odd Brook Dun, (I think that's what it is anyway). Sunday, 17 April 2011. A perfect Dry Fly day! Best fly of the day a Cal-de-Cannon 16/18. Caddis retreats could be seen all over the rocks which I think were from the, 'Saddle case caddis-Glossomatiddae'. A Brook lamprey eel! I havin...

Fishing trips and tips. Monday, 11 February 2013. It's been a few years since I last caught a pike but here is the one I caught on Sunday. With the weather being cold, wet and windy me and Lloyd now had chance to to go with our new back up plan - spinning on our local waters for pike/perch. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Phil's fishing blog: September 2012

http://flyandclassiccoarse.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Fishing trips and tips. Wednesday, 5 September 2012. Back to the fishing. Well after what has been a nightmare year so far for me and my family things seem to be looking brighter and even the sunshine is making an appearance. Last time I went to Fishing Republic in Swinton I noticed they had some pins and when I asked the price was quite shocked. Only twenty odd quid, so I bought one. I managed about 12 Grayling in all but Tony had the better fish on the day with this example below;. Time By The River.

Phil's fishing blog: August 2012

http://flyandclassiccoarse.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Fishing trips and tips. Tuesday, 28 August 2012. Last pint at the Aspinal Arms,Mitton. Yesterday as we were stuck for something to do I took my wife and daughter to the Aspinal Arms for lunch. As it happens it was its last day serving as the landlords are not renewing the lease. What a shame, it was a great place to get your day tickets for the Ribble down to Calder foot, and you could even trot maggots for Grayling after 1st November on this noble stretch of freestone river. Fishing trips and tips. Monday, 15 October 2012. And the world keeps turning. The earth spins around its axis at a tilt as it orbits the sun and at this time of year England gets further away from the sun every day. The sun appears lower in the sky and the days get shorter and it gets colder. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). River Dane at Congleton. River Dove at Doveridge. River Ribble at Ribchester. Phil's fishing blog: December 2012

http://flyandclassiccoarse.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Fishing trips and tips. Monday, 17 December 2012. An important lesson was learned this week. That is to carry a good range of tippet material. This last 18 inches or so of line is the bit that is attached to your fly and on a cold winters day going down in diameter can save a blank. Stocked rainbow trout adapted to feeding on midges can be quite fussy about it. Thursday, 6 December 2012. More winter grayling on the fly. We both use 10 foot Grey's streamflex rods and Grey's streamlite reels. At this point...

Six months of blogging inactivity shames me into this token summary - a full season of small triumphs, disasters and downright mediocrity.

Phil's fishing blog: Been doing some Coarse fishing and Carp on the centrepin

http://flyandclassiccoarse.blogspot.com/2014/05/been-doing-some-coarse-fishing-and-carp.html

Fishing trips and tips. Tuesday, 6 May 2014. Been doing some Coarse fishing and Carp on the centrepin. A recent family holiday however has seen me catching some nice carp using my centrepin and my daughter had her first carp on her 4m margin pole. While on holiday we happened to walk along a lovely welsh river with lots of rising fish so a return to fly fishing may be due soon. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). River Dane at Congleton.
