My Grandparents
http://gohike.tripod.com/gohike/grandpa.html
My website is dedicated to my late grandparents; Henry and Elizabeth Grady. Grandpa and Grandma Grady after returning from church. Grandpa as I will always remember him, sitting on the front porch swing after feeding the cattle with his dog. This is one of the few photos that I have of Grandpa and me. It appears that my full attention is on the dog "Sport" and all those rocks in my hands. Grandpa and me leading the cattle back down the mountain. Close this browser to go back to my homepage.

ABOUT THE YUKON RIVER
http://gohike.tripod.com/gohike/yukon/yukabout.html
ABOUT THE YUKON RIVER! A FAR NORTH RIVER. The mighty Yukon river, third longest river in North America arises from a series of headwater lakes ( Tagish, Atlin, and Teslin. Which drain the coastal range mountains of northern British Columbia. Flowing northwest through the Yukon Territory, then westward through the heart of Alaska to the Bering Sea, it is the least populated and traveled of the major rivers, thus making it an excellent choice for a genuine wilderness experience! Fur trapping in Alabama
http://gohike.tripod.com/gohike/trap.html
Beaver, mink, raccoon, and muskrat. a very good day's catch while trapping in north Alabama. Note: (Many of the pictures are black and white because I was writing a lot of articles for FUR-FISH-GAME Magazine (and others) and that's what they wanted.). Choose any of the following links to learn more about my Alabama trapline! One year I secured 10,000 acres to trap exclusively for a large paper corporation along the Tombigbee river in west/central Alabama. I was working for a taxidermist at the time a...

November 2010 | Wood Trails - Dave Brock

Sunday, November 21, 2010. Add Accent to DreamCatcher With Woodcarving. With Christmas just around the corner I've been spending some time making gifts with a special concentration on dreamcatchers. From my research I learned that dreamcatchers originated in the Ojibwa Indian nation. Kids love making these unique natural crafts that can be hung over their bed to filter bad dreams out, thus opening up a gateway of happy visions. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Foil Pouch Cooking- The Original Cowboy Feast. One of the best things about a weekend camping trip is cooking your food in the hot coals of an outdoor fire. It's been a while since I have enjoyed this more primitive form of 'roughing it easy' but last weekend I re-kindled my love for cooking a foil pouch meal while on a boy scout camping trip. On a camping trip I like to marinate the veggies overnight in a cooler but tonight I just used them right away. I shook up the veggi...
WIP: Forked Branch Carving: Meet "Da Wiz" (Part 2 of 2) | Wood Trails - Dave Brock
http://woodtrails.blogspot.com/2010/08/wip-forked-branch-carving-meet-da-wiz_30.html
Monday, August 30, 2010. WIP: Forked Branch Carving: Meet "Da Wiz" (Part 2 of 2). As seen above I then carved a simple woodspirit face into the upper part of the inflated staff which compliments the wizard and makes the carving much more interesting. I glued the staff permanently into the hand and then drilled a super small hole for a small nylon wrist strap dangling from the staff. If you would like to see 28 higher quality pictures of this project from beginning to end then just click here. Working woo...

Wednesday, June 30, 2010. WIP: Nothing Like An "Ax In The Stump" (Part 2 of 2). Continuing with the ax-in-the-stump carving project started here. You can see from the picture to the left how I first sawed out a series of "fins" on both sides of the ax head. I always like this part because it's fun to then flick them away with the blade of my jack knife. Labels: ax in stump. Monday, June 28, 2010. Carving A Chess Set Rook. Thursday, June 24, 2010. Every Kid Needs To Master The Bow & Arrow | Wood Trails - Dave Brock

Monday, April 29, 2013. Every Kid Needs To Master The Bow and Arrow. Excellent example of how to prop a good shot! Archery is probably not the best choice possible for very young kids, but middle schoolers generally have a just-right amount of maturity and body strength to master the archery range well. Very proud of his shooting! To shoot straight and to shoot well takes lot's of practice and even more patience. And of course, a good instructor that can point out mistakes and suggest improvements ma...

Dave's Outdoor Adventure Page!
September 11, 2001.Never forget! My name is David "Dave" Brock and although I grew up in "sweet home" Alabama, the mountains of North Carolina have been my home for about 30 years. My adventures probably started as a youngster. When my Grandpa Grady. Even after completing college in 1977 I knew that the traditional sense of "career" meant. Along the way I have found happiness to be an overall contentment resulting from having the courage to follow my own dreams, and as Henry David Thoreau. It is my hope ...

The Tramping Manifesto
Dec 21, 2011. It’s always a popular winter warmer, and everyone spends the post-prandial hours sipping large mugs of wassail on the deck. 2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg. 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger. 4 × 750 ml bottles sherry. 12 eggs, separated. 6 apples, cored and baked. In a covered 12-quart stockpot, bring water to a boil. Add nutmeg, allspice, ginger, cloves, mace and cinnamon. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Add sugar and sherry and heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Beat eggs...
