Tuesday, 30 June 2015. Yalumba Galway Vintage Malbec 2012. This is like a big warm cuddle. It has a homely feel to it and goes a treat with a slow cooked stew or casserole. For those who haven't had a Malbec before this is a fair starting point. Feed it meat and you'll win. Well priced too and I suspect you may find it a little cheaper around the traps. Sunday, 28 June 2015. Meerea Park Alexander Munro Semillon 2010. Pizzini Sangiovese Shiraz 2013. A 55/45 blend, it was not a wine I particularly enjoyed&...

Events & Shows. Australian Small Winemakers Show. What is surprising about Queensland wines is that Australians are still surprised by them. Even some of the Queensland Parliamentary wines are not from, erm, around here. Strange, as Queenslanders are notoriously parochial paraders of all things fine and maroon. Queensland vintners are also quietly amassing a treasure chest of experience and national reputations, creating some of the best and most intriguing boutique wine in Australia.

Brash Higgins Nero D’Avola 2011. The wine itself is a light red colour – reminiscent of a pinot noir. In fact, it was served to me in a Plumm pinot glass. The most notable thing to me immediately was the nose. Gingerbread; a red, liquid gingerbread – all Xmas spice with a hint of burnt orange and lavender. It had a powerful nose that really made me keen to taste it. It should be.). Http:/ www.brashhiggins.com. Golden Grove Mourvédre 2009.
